Bouncing back from the emotional brink | HelloTomDyer #56
22/04/2020 Duração: 11minBefore COVID-19 hit i was due to give a talk to University of South Wales on bouncing back after troubles. This came about due to a connection on LinkedIn and I promised I would record something that they could share. What’s important to me is interaction and connection on a public speech so this in no way reflects how I would have talked on the day but it’s the best I could muster in my kitchen! If there’s anything you like in this review please do check out my Facebook page. I’d love to see you there! And lastly, before I leave you to your week. I need your help... Week two in isolation | HelloTomDyer Recap #54
07/04/2020 Duração: 09minHello and welcome to another HelloTomDyer Recap! It’s World Health Day 2020 with the theme being heavily focussed on the frontline staff taking on the COVID-19 pandemic. My Facebook Live episodes have been no different. We’ve had numerous questions relating to corona virus and how we’re able to maintain our routine to keep our heads sane. I feel very privileged that my natural state is very malleable so that I can adapt to pretty much any situation. Whether it’s lockdown in a house or trekking the Inca Trail; I just get on with things. This is not easy for everyone though and I hope that my insights on the Facebook Lives are providing a different perspective and helping alleviate any issues you may be having. If there’s anything you like in this review please do check out my Facebook page. I’d love to see you there! And lastly, before I leave you to your week. I need your help... Week one in isolation | HelloTomDyer Recap #53
31/03/2020 Duração: 09minThis week sees us at the end of isolation week #1. For some people it’s been a really difficult time while for others it’s really kicked off their creativity. I think I’ve been in the middle of these too. My head has been all over the place and in some areas unmotivated but completely driven to succeed in other areas. Primarily, wanting to become a coach; more on this later. This recap episode really is a recap on the daily live-streams I’ve committed to now we’re in lockdown. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, share my point of view, and now I’ve got this time to do it. I’m still working in the day so I’m not as productive as I’d like to be on my things, trawling back through my videos and finding little sound bites to share - but I’ve got the clearest plan I’ve had in a long time! If there’s anything you like in this review please do check out my Facebook page. I’d love to see you there! And lastly, before I leave to your week. I need your help... Getting on with people with ACT and Solution Focus | HelloTomDyer Recap #52
24/03/2020 Duração: 10minSometimes we have to deal with people who we don’t actually want to be around. This can make things tiresome and loathsome but for many of us we don’t have a choice. Tase people may be friends of friends, our work colleagues, and even family. I’ve given ten minutes of my time to consider how what I’ve learnt from ACT and Solution Focus can help me in situations where I may be with people who may not necessarily want to be around, and hopefully, these hints will help you too. And lastly, before I leave to your week. I need your help... Covid-19 Corona Virus, my thoughts | HelloTomDyer Recap #51
17/03/2020 Duração: 10minThese are my thoughts on the Corona Virus (I’m not an expert). Well, my thoughts pre the Prime Ministers press conference which really shed a different light on what it feels like to be living in this country while on an unofficial lockdown. The sentiments still ring through in this episode. Please look after yourself. Please look after others. Please be empathetic and please don’t panic buy; that doesn’t help anyone. If you want a handy little video to show what the government’s plan was / is, look up gardener and his water bucket explaining NHS capacity and if you want to know about how infection spreads look up Scrubs Dr Kelso explains infections... perfectly shows why social distancing is required. And lastly, before I leave to your week. I need your help... Why now? | HelloTomDyer Recap #50
10/03/2020 Duração: 10minWhy now? This is a question I was asked last week and although I was expecting it I didn’t anticipate that the sudden death of a former work colleague in his 50s would put that question into stark realisation that ‘now’ is all we have. Why now? Because I am alive and breathing right now Why now? Because tomorrow may never come Why now? Because those who I want to spend tomorrow with might not be there? Why now? Because I have found something that gives me vitality and vibrancy that makes me want to sing and dance everyday - not just now and then. Why now? Because one day it will be too late. We all sit back and relax into our habits and dream of the lives we could be leading or the tasks we could be doing thinking that time is something we’ll always have. We all succeed at dying. I want us all to succeed at living Why now? Because I dream like I’ll live forever, but I live like I’ll die tomorrow. And lastly, before I leave to your week. I need your help... Self-esteem | HelloTomDyer Recap #49
03/03/2020 Duração: 10minSelf-Esteem. I got asked for my point of view on self-esteem and to be honest, it’s such a huge subject I don’t know if I’ve done this topic justice. Which is an ironic opening sentence to 10 minutes on self-esteem. I typically refer to myself as someone with low self-esteem but I’ve learnt over the years to still live my life with my value of self-esteem. For example, I’m about to press send on a video of my face talking about self-esteem not really being an expert in the field but talking through my experiences and how I see mindfulness helping my self-esteem; my low self-esteem no longer stops me acting in a way that is congruent with who I really am. The bullets against self-esteem are comparison, feedback and expectation. Once we’re able to put these aspects of our life in a little box and not be governed by them, we can be who we are supposed to be. Now that I’m typing I feel like I could have had more to say so please get in touch as I’d love to be more of service to you. And lastly, before I leave

Have a little patience | HelloTomDyer Recap #48
25/02/2020 Duração: 10minThis week I fell victim of a lack of patience. I got quite selfish and believed that everything should be easy. All because I stood out of my comfort zone and got knocked back at the first attempt. This is what we do when things get hard. We sit back and we think, “well, that was a nice idea but it obviously wasn’t for me. I’ll go back to my comfortable ways and watch others learn and train and do the thing I want to do.” I forgot that after the initial upset of not getting something, the next step is to always look at what are we going to do about it? Are we going to sit back and do nothing about it? Or are we going to get back to work and knuckle down on the shortfall? Please don’t think I’m asking you to ignore your feelings? Feel those feelings. Be disappointed or sad. But pick yourself back and go for the next one. Don’t dwell. And lastly, before I leave to your week. I need your help... What more would you like from me? I know I send these videos every week but I’d like to know what else would be

Caroline Flack and being kind to each other | HelloTomDyer Recap #47
18/02/2020 Duração: 10minThis was a difficult 10 minutes to talk about. For someone who assists people with their mental health, it’s always hard to hear that someone has decided to end their life. I was not the biggest fan of Caroline Flack. As a result, I didn’t take much interest in her life. Yet still, reading the news last week that she’s killed herself still hit me harder than I probably realised at the time. My sister even feels the same way. Reading the comments and the hate that she received by pursuing her path is upsetting. It’s upsetting because we share this world with those who took the time to spread the hate and vitriol that led her to feel that she had no other option. I mention the twitter @secretbarrister I mention @tferriss I mention Danny Cirpriani I don’t mention The Samaritans but please talk and reach out to help yourself and others. See the full beauty of life; take risks | HelloTomDyer Recap #46
11/02/2020 Duração: 10minI read a tweet from @yestheory the other day, “Life’s beauty is directly proportional to the amount of calculated risk you’re willing to take. Take the risk.” And that is the theme of this weeks episode. I’m in a period of risk taking as far as pride and embarrassment are concerned and I’m tackling them head on because I want to see the beauty in life around and within me. Listen on for more information as to what you gain by putting yourself in these situation. How Acting Changed My Life | Ignite Cardiff #41
30/01/2020 Duração: 08minIn 2019 I took part in my first Ignite Cardiff event at The Glee Club Cardiff and talked about acting and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The response in the room was fantastic so I'm sharing with you to give you permission to put aside your worrying thoughts about yourself and what others may think and just do what it is you want to do. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/hellotomdyer/message

Be grateful for the life you have | HelloTomDyer Recap #44
28/01/2020 Duração: 09minThis last week we lost an American icon, Kobe Bryant. With him his daughter and the family of others as well. It’s such a tragic loss. I grew up wishing that American dream and playing basketball in school very aware of Kobe and Shaq playing for the Lakers. It’s so sad that he’s and the others have been taken so young. It reminds us that we should love our fullest lives everyday. Life is a miracle and there is beauty all around us. We just need to take time to see it. We can all take some time to view the pleasure and treasure around us as highlighted in Mindfulness for Health (Vidyamala Burch and Danny Penman). Hug your close ones closer and open your eyes to the world around you. You might not see tomorrow —————————————— @HelloTomDyer www.hellotomdyer.com www.hellotomdyershop.com --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/hellotomdyer/message

Are you living by your good habits? | HelloTomDyer Recap #43
21/01/2020 Duração: 10minFirst of all thank you to everyone who reached out last week. I know it wasn’t the pleasant of listening but as I explain in this video sharing the lows as well as the highs is important. Thank you also to the mystery donor or Jen Sincero’s ‘You Are A Badass’ left on my desk. Thank you. This week I talk about habits and how I basically these last couple of months, probably going back to the tail end of summer how much I’ve lapsed in my good habits! So this is a little declaration to start good habits and therefore breaking bad ones - my worst being procrastination. Have a great week everyone. January dragging me down or something more? | HelloTomDyer Recap #42
14/01/2020 Duração: 10minIs January getting you down? I’ve succumbed to something and I don’t think episode necessarily makes for nice listening but it has helped lift me somewhat. What can we do when we’re feeling off? We can be real hard on ourself, like I have, or we can open up and be honest with ourselves. Listen to your gut. Get thoughts out of your head and onto paper and actually figure out what it is that is not aligning properly. —————————————— @HelloTomDyer www.hellotomdyer.com www.hellotomdyershop.com --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/hellotomdyer/message

Happy New Year! Who’s cheering you on this year? | HelloTomDyer Recap #41
07/01/2020 Duração: 10minHappy New Year! Welcome to another episode of HelloTomDyer Recaps. I’m kicking off the year by focusing on cheering on yourself. Wearing your own name on the back of your shirt and cheering on yourself. People around you will still support you but don’t expect them to cheer and be as jolly as you are or want to be. They’re on their own roller coaster. But don’t let that deter you from your joys and achievements. And this isn’t coming from a place of just success either. Family and friends can’t get as high as you and they need to protect themselves against the lows too. Not everything you do will pay off so they have stay grounded around you. But don’t let that put you off the pursuit of who you’re meant to be. Just this last week I’ve taken small steps toward something big, I’ve been cast in a show AND I’ve been rejected from a show. Swings and roundabouts and I shall dance in the highs and the lows. Have a great 2020! I’ll be here if you need me. If you want to ask me a question and feature on this po

New Year - let life get in the way of life | HelloTomDyer Recap #40
31/12/2019 Duração: 10minHappy New Year! Let 2020 be the year that you focus on yourself. Make those plans! Make those visions! But don’t beat yourself if you can’t stick to those plans! If life gets in the way with life and throws a curve ball or something comes up then embrace it! Jump into it! You’ll know if it’s the right thing to do! And if it isn’t then take decisive action and get back on track or start a new track. We have the resources we need to do that. Go out and make 2020 and beyond yours! —————————————— @HelloTomDyer www.hellotomdyer.com www.hellotomdyershop.com --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/hellotomdyer/message

HelloTomDyer Recap #39 : Merry Christmas
24/12/2019 Duração: 10minIt was Christmas Eve Babe! Today is Christmas Eve, the last Christmas Eve of the decade in fact. These kind of events can cause anything from a mild sob to hysteria. Breathe into these feelings and more importantly know what to do with them. Traditions, like a bad habit need something new to break them if they’re harmful to you. Have a lovely end of 2019 and be who you want to be in 2020. More next week. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/hellotomdyer/message

HelloTomDyer Recap #38 : feeling flat
17/12/2019 Duração: 10minHelloTomDyer Recap #38 : feeling flat This post is similar to the one I posted in September. I’m not feeling myself this week and I don’t really know why as there’s so much good going on and I’m loving the houses with their fairy lights on and I love the spirit of Christmas. But true to my values I want to give some insight that even those of us who may appear to be happy go lucky all the time still have thoughts and feelings that drag us down and hinder our ability to get on with our days - but we still do. We still get up and we take on the day. If you’re in a festive slump look after yourself. Be mindful. Talk openly. Do something you enjoy and don’t judge yourself. Look after yourself. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/hellotomdyer/message
