WGBH Early Edition - Thursday, February 27th, 2020
27/02/2020 Duração: 12minGood Thursday morning from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team. “Nothing to worry about” is the message coming out of the Trump Administration about the Coronavirus, but a new case, not yet tied to travel, may test that theory. Meanwhile the three day dip in the stock market can apparently be chalked up to politics and not infectious disease. You too can own a piece of Big Papi if you participate in his glorified estate tag sale. And Celtic Jason Tatum is still setting the league on fire with another 30 point performance last night in Utah. Stay safe in the rain out there and thanks as always for listening to WGBH radio.

WGBH Early Edition - Wednesday, February 26th, 2020
26/02/2020 Duração: 12minGood Wednesday morning from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team. Another debate for the dems is in the books, and things got spirited down in South Carolina last night, with front runner Bernie Sanders taking the brunt of it. Meanwhile Ash Wednesday is here and Lent has arrived as the revelers were escorted off of Bourbon Street at midnight in New Orleans last night… what are you giving up for lent? Hopefully it’s not waking up early with WGBH Radio! Rain arrives later today, stay dry out there, but at least it’s not snow. Thanks as always for tuning in to WGBH.

WGBH Early Edition - Tuesday, February 25th, 2020
25/02/2020 Duração: 12minGood Tuesday morning from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team. Day two back from vacation is always a challenge, but Joe is here again and ready to push through it. Tough day on Wall Street yesterday… it wasn’t quite “Black Monday”, but we will try and put it in historical perspective. While President Trump visits India, the polls in South Carolina may reveal that the Democratic nominee is far from decided. And Boston says farewell to one of our new favorite couples. Happy Fat Tuesday, party while you can, and thanks for tuning in Early Edition and WGBH.

WGBH Early Edition - Monday, February 24th, 2020
24/02/2020 Duração: 12minGood Monday morning from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team. Joe is back from school vacation week and extremely happy to see you all. Meanwhile the people of India are happy to see Donald Trump for some reason. Starting today in the Bay State make sure you put down your smart phones while you drive or you could get popped for it. The Cambridge Police have provided us with some audio to remind you of the new law. And apparently people aren’t as informed as we’d like them to be when it comes to the Presidential candidates. Thanks for waking up with us, and get out and enjoy today’s warm weather! ’

WGBH Early Edition - Thursday, February 20th, 2020
20/02/2020 Duração: 11minGood Thursday morning from WGBH and the entire Morning Edition team. As this school vacation week winds down, Henry Santoro is back in for Joe Mathieu for a couple of more days. Another debate for the Democrats last night, this time out in Las Vegas, and MA’s own Liz Warren was more aggressive than we’ve been used to seeing, especially when it came to former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Bloomberg absorbed barbs from all sides, including a few choice words from Bernie Sanders. Should be an interesting race moving forward. Thanks as always for waking up with WGBH Radio.

WGBH Early Edition - Wednesday, February 19th, 2020
19/02/2020 Duração: 12minGood Wednesday morning from the WGBH Morning Edition team. Henry Santoro is in for Joe Mathieu for the rest of this week. Big happenings at the WGBH studios last night as the first Senatorial debate between Ed Markey and challenger Joe Kennedy went down right here on Guest Street, and we’ve got all the highlights for you to hear. Revenues at the Encore Casino are down, despite being up at other Massachusetts casinos… maybe that new automated drink service will help. And Tom Brady’s future in New England may come down to how you interpret an emoji. Thanks for tuning in and waking up with WGBH.

WGBH Early Edition - Tuesday, February 18th, 2020
18/02/2020 Duração: 12minGood Tuesday morning from the WGBH Morning Edition team. Joe Mathieu is out this school vacation week but Aaron Schachter is back again with Karen, Brendan and the rest of the regular crew. We update a scary scene at yesterday's rain delayed Daytona 500 race. The Boy Scouts of America are in financial trouble, and a murder of winter crows have taken over the City of Lawrence, but that apparently isn’t anything outside of the norm. Thanks for listening to WGBH and thanks for waking up with Early Edition.

17/02/2020 Duração: 11minGood Monday morning, thanks for waking up with WGBH and the Morning Edition crew. We recap the weekend in sports, including a brawl in New York for the Bruins, the NBA All-Star Game, and an appearance by the President at Daytona. Plus a British company has a solution for robo-callers that will automatically escalate things if you so desire. Hope you have the day off, but if you’re up with us we suspect you aren’t… so have a great Monday everybody!

12/02/2020 Duração: 12minGood Wednesday morning from the Granite State from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team. The NH Primary is in the books and it was a big night for Bernie, Mayor Pete, and Amy. We were up late covering it, and we’re back early to recap the winners and losers and give our thoughts on the outcome. Vermin Supreme crashed our set yesterday, giving birth to the Early Edition morning greeting, courtesy of a man named “Lord Buckethead”. Thanks for waking up with us, and thanks for tuning in to WGBH Radio.

WGBH Early Edition - Wednesday, February 5th, 2020
05/02/2020 Duração: 12minThe midway point has arrived, good Wednesday morning from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team. Still no clear answers out of Iowa but all indications point to Mayor Pete’s prediction being right. Major Red Sox news this morning as Mookie Betts is officially gone, to pretty much no one’s surprise. And the State of the Union address last night was full of surprises and polarizing moments before, during and after President Trump’s speech. Thanks for waking up with WGBH Radio.

WGBH Early Edition - Tuesday, February 4th, 2020
04/02/2020 Duração: 11minGood Tuesday morning from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team. If you went to bed expecting to find out the Iowa caucus results, you probably woke up disappointed. Democrats are in a holding pattern for results because of some voting tally issues. Meanwhile most of the candidates have already arrived or are en route to the Granite State for the NH Primary next week. Celtics won last night and have been hot of late, and the State of the Union address should certainly be interesting tonight. Have a great Tuesday and thanks for listening to Early Edition and WGBH.

WGBH Early Edition - Monday, February 3rd, 2020
03/02/2020 Duração: 12minMonday has arrived and Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team are sleep deprived and in a post-Super Bowl stupor, but we’re still here to greet you. Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs on winning the big game… that of course is Kansas City MISSOURI, not Kansas. A groundhog from Lincoln, MA named “Mrs. G” did not see her shadow yesterday. Tom Brady fooled most of us with his ‘departure’ photo from last week. And it’s a big day for two reasons around these parts… Caucus day in Iowa, and Red Sox truck day in Boston. Happy Monday, and thanks for listening to WGBH radio.

WGBH Early Edition - Friday, January 31st, 2020
31/01/2020 Duração: 13minHappy Friday from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team. Big Friday as its Brexit day, Superbowl Weekend, and it may turn out to be the official end of the Senate trial. Joe catches you up on the late night impeachment and rally news, plus a tribute to Kobe Bryant at the Garden last night. One young Celtic receives a big honor, and New England is losing it’s collective mind trying to figure out a cryptic photo posted by a man named Brady. We wrap things up with your weekend calendar for Boston. Enjoy those Superbowl parties, and thanks for listening to WGBH.

WGBH Early Edition - Thursday, January 30th, 2020
30/01/2020 Duração: 12minWe call it “Little Friday” for a reason… welcome to Thursday morning, you almost made it to the weekend and Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team right there with you. Another late night for the impeachment hearings, and some of the arguments have almost crossed in to the absurd. Sixty-four new emojis for our phones are on tap, and don’t expect a message of love on your confection heart candy this Valentine’s Day unless you’re among the 1 in 11 lucky ones. Keep plugging along and thanks for tuning in to Early Edition and WGBH Radio.
