This a quick conversation with one of my favorites, fan wise, in rock. Zach Blair is the guitarist for legendary Chicago based punk rock band Rise Against. Zach though is from Texas and was also Flattus Maximus in GWAR before joining Rise Against in 2007. We started talking about the rebirth of Vinyl and the excitement in the growth of physical album sales because of vinyl. We're not really sure where we went from there.

Dorothy Martin is the lead singer and namesake of the LA based rock and roll band Dorothy. Their new album is called '28 Days In the Valley' and features the single "Flawless." She opens up about why she got back into music after her father passed away, working her manager and producer Linda Perry, and digs down about the more stripped down sound of her second record, all while sipping on some coffee in a Los Angeles cafe. Why do we as rock music fans think that every time our favorite underground band hits radio or has some success they sell out, and then we can't like them anymore? Why do we feel like every time a band changes up their sound a bit they sold out? Every stop to think maybe that's just the direction their art took? As artists the main goal is do what you love for a living, so when an artist has some success that's a good thing. Sure there have been bands or artists over the years that have "sold out" but so what? Let's discuss why most likely your favorite band hasn't in fact sold out. The band Underoath were brought up during a conversation two episodes ago, because of the use of certain words and religion in rock. We thought it was a good time to catch up with Spencer Chamberlin lead singer of Underoath. Works out even better, because their new song "Rapture" has hit and a new album called 'Erase Me' will be out in April. All topics are covered and nothing is left out during this very personal conversation with the lead singer of one of metal-core's biggest and most influential bands.

"I was sent to warn you, the Devil's in the next room." That line is taken from the new Shinedown song "Devil" and it's the song that will kick off the band's 6th studio album entitled 'Attention, Attention' due out on May 4th. Brent and really all of the guys in Shinedown and I go back a long time and to see them be a creative rock powerhouse that has been as successful as them is a pretty incredible thing to be a part of. Time to break down the new tune and the new album with the voice and democratic leader of Shinedown, Brent Smith.

When Underoath came back and released their new song "On My Teeth" it broke the internet, because of one use of the word "f***." When is swearing too much in music, and where does the line of religion in rock get drawn? Kaytie and I try to answer that question and more on the latest Rockcast.

It's always nice to catch up with anyone in Stone Sour, but conversations with drummer Roy Mayorga always end up to be a lot of fun. Kaytie and I went backstage with the Akron, OH rock and roll band Red Sun Rising. After a debut record that saw three songs top the charts, it's time to unleash their second album 'Thread' upon the world on March 30th. The songwriting, the lyrics, what they used for instruments, where they wrote and recorded, and every other detail you could possibly want about this new album is discussed in this episode of the Rockcast. Oh, and they embarrass Kaytie, so there's that.

Robb Flynn is the outspoken frontman for Bay Area metal band Machine Head, who have just released their 9th studio album 'Catharsis.' This album has moments that are a bit of departure for Machine Head, specifically the song "Bastards." With slumping CD sales and increasing streams it may have looked like this album wasn't going to do as well as past releases, but a closer look says that's not entirely true. With the recent announcement by Best Buy that will not be selling CD's in their stores as of July 1st and that Target is making music manufacturers sell them only on a consignment basis, is this the end of an era? I posed this question on my Facebook page as well and most seemed to say they've only been going to the local independent record shop anyway. What about nationally? I've been lucky enough to know these lovely Swedes since they first came to America on tour for their album 'Black Waltz.' Ben Burnley is of course the lead singer and really the mastermind behind one of modern rock's biggest bands of the past 15 years Breaking Benjamin. Kaytie caught up with our old friend backstage on The Stage world tour where Breaking Benjamin is playing direct support for Avenged Sevenfold. The tour is incredible, the show is amazing and we got to witness for the very first time, Breaking Benjamin play their new song "Red Cold River" live. Their new album 'Ember' will be out April 13th. Zach Myers is the guitar player for one of North America's biggest bands, Shinedown. Zach and his singer Brent Smith have been doing some one of shows as Smith & Myers. First and foremost I can't count, but I digress. Kaytie and I received this email about the music we play on our home base radio station Razor 94.7. The email inspired a conversation about the perception of what you actually hear on the radio and what you think you hear. Also why certain songs or bands are played versus others. It's a question we've been asked over and over again and hopefully this will help explain why things are they way they are. Remember every radio station is different and every person's likes and dislikes are different. Be kind to your local radio station and to each other.
