June is Pride month and after experiencing my first Pride festival, Kaytie and I got to talking about being open, about being who we are as individuals, (after some poop talk of course, it's us what did you expect?) At the end of the day it is just about being good humans. After having this discussion we left some people out of the conversation who are out as gay or bisexual in the world of rock, Plus of course trans-gendered rock stars like Laura Jane Grace or Mina Caputo. 20 years ago Godsmack released their multi-platinum self titled debut and they haven't looked back. This year when the time was right to celebrate their anniversary? They released a new album instead. When Legends Rise see's the band take some chances and try some new things, Seemingly it's paying off. They are about to kick off an co-headlining tour with Shinedown and the song "Bulletproof" gives Godsmack their 9th number one rock song. Time to catch up with Godsmack singer and front-man Sully Erna.

Day two of Northern Invasion actually begun with Ryan and Mike from Red Sun Rising. Their second album is called 'Thread' is now out. From opening to headlining they are living their own successes.

Parkway Drive's new album is out and it's one of my favorites of the year already. The record is called 'Reverence' and shows a bit of a departure from some other Parkway albums, but as Winston says, it's their heaviest yet. Always a pleasure to catch up with Winston. Here's something you may not know. Radio and music is actual work, hard work, and there's a lot of it. Ahead of heading out to Northern Invasion and Rock on the Range two of the World's Loudest Month Festivals, we always get this comment, "Oh my god I wish I had your job, you get paid to just see concerts and hang out with bands." If you believe that, then we have down our jobs. There is a lot of work that goes into it though and way more than most people would expect. Welcome to Rockcast 72 - Work Bitch. One of my favorite things to watch are documentary's based on rock history. Turns out Kaytie loves that to. We have some favorites and plenty of magazines and websites have put together lists for the best rock docs of all times. All this on the heals of a new one called 'Long Live Rock' all about the rock and roll / heavy metal concert scene being announced. They need your help though and have started a pledge music page. Another music award show means another pissed off Kaytie. The question then was spawned after the nominations for the Billboard music awards were announced, what is rock music? Or what do you consider to be rock music? Or even then, what is the actual definition of rock music? Do we answer any of these questions? No, but a discussion was born with a tad bit different look at the argument. At the end of the day like Rodney Dangerfield used to say "No respect, no respect." I first met Jeff Gutt in 2002 as the lead singer of the band Dry Cell. Now in 2018 after a trip into TV on The X-Factor plus a few different music projects, Jeff is the lead singer of one of the world's most popular rock bands Stone Temple Pilots. It's about time we catch up again. The new STP is just simply called 'Stone Temple Pilots (2018)' and is available now. STP will be out a tri-headlining tour this summer with Bush and The Cult.
