Highlander Rewatched

Charlie unexpectedly returns to Seacouver in a vain attempt to assassinate Cord, an outrageously dramatic immortal arms dealer who once saved Joe’s life, threatening the bromance triangle between Mac, Joe, and Charlie. The Rewatchers rewrite Mac friend-dumping Joe (it’s not me, it’s you), mourn the super preventable death of Charlie, and reopen an old wound by revisiting the entrances to Joe’s Bar.

After discovering the silver bracelet he gave his first love (to cuck his kinsman, Wolverine) in a slimy art dealer’s collection, Mac returns to the Scottish highlands to confront a grave robbing Viking warrior while dodging the most aggro innkeeper in Glenfinnan. The Rewatchers dive into some ancient Norse Mythology, discuss baby’s first buzz, and enjoy- then lament- the thousand plays of Bonny Portmore.

Things hurdle toward an inevitable conclusion (illusion?) when Mac hitches a ride to Axis Chemicals in the fastest taxi he can find to rescue his son from Kane’s clutches. The Rewatchers begrudgingly discuss Mac’s immortal pecker, dissect a joyless joyride redux, and wonder if the game is truly over... again.

Things finally start happening when Kane crashes Connor's late night kendo session for an ill-advised, trapese-based, sword fight in a Bhuddist Shrine and then the third John (Stenn) finally reveals Brenda's fate (as road pizza). The Rewatchers break down the timeline of Mac's kendo journey in mind-numbing detail, try to figure out if holy ground makes swords explode, and rewrite the emotion impact of Brenda's ubrupt sendoff.

In the third of (who knows how many) episodes, Kane magically teleports to NYC so he can get down to important business: eating condoms, soliciting racist caricatures for sex, and beating miniaturized Wesley Snipes in Three-card Monte. The Rewatchers try to figure out how Kane uses the power of illusion to be a bird, learn about a real-life plot to capture Mario Van Peebles from set, and wonder if a totally unnecessary medical examiner is making a sly nod to Zeist.

After Kane and his goons suddenly reanimate underneath a mysterious Japanese laboratory, Mac returns to New York and abandons his adopted son John to the care of his friend... also John. The Rewatchers dive deep into a bizarre mugging on the Streets of NYC, meet the world’s worst doctor (and his star patient- Loony Napoleon), and try to figure out the new love interest- Brenda 2.0.

Join the Rewatchers as they kick off their exciting coverage of Highlander III: The Final Dimension (Scottish Fighter III? the Sorcerer?). After Connor MacLeod brakes the fourth wall to leave Scotland behind for the mystical mountains of Japan, he must learn to respect the power illusion (which is to say, learn nothing) to take on the cartoonishly evil Kane and prevent Kane from ushering in an age of darkness and nipple rings (but mostly nipple rings). The Rewatchers try to figure out how a quickening can blow up an underground computer disc, unpack Amanda’s apparent stay in a harem, and pour one out for the uzi-wielding hero of legend: Vemas.

After Amanda busts Kalas out of prison with a grappling hook crossbow in an ill-fated attempt to take his head, Duncan must stop Kalas from kidnapping his friends while simultaneously preventing the buddy-cop duo of Joe and Methos from killing an innocent woman who wants to out the Watchers to a newspaper. The Rewatchers admire Kalas's form on an amazing golf swing/beheading, wish Mac would stop Mac-splaining danger to Amanda, and write the world's least salacious fan fiction about Kalas: Jazz Club Manager.

HLWW - Clay Day: A Conversation with Director Clay Borris by Highlander Rewatched

Maurice's horribly tragic prostitute niece falls in with immortal art thief (and Supreme Court Justice, Elena) Kagan, a murderous twit that tries to guilt Mac with the story of his rough upbringing at the hands of Tarsus, Kagan's twisted mustachioed mentor. The Rewatchers discuss the lack of reasonable doubts in this episode (and the moral quandaries that could have been), get the heebie-jeebies from Maurice's relationship with his niece, and chatter more than anyone should about insurance.

When an immortal Nazi wakes up after forty plus years of drowning, compliments of Father Bernie (Sanders) and a group of French freedom fighters, Mac must prevent the ageless war criminal from exacting revenge on the old priest by karate fighting white-supremacists goons. The Rewatchers discuss Mac's surprisingly relaxed attitude toward neo-Nazis (seriously Mac, wreck this clown), wish a tearful/relieved (for her) farewell to Anne, and debate (yet again) how the he(ck) holy ground works.
