Highlander Rewatched

Quack quack- the Rewatchers are back! Amanda reconnects with her old friend/maybe lover/worst dancing partner to help him solve his son's murder at the hands of crooked government agents (and a ham and shrimp sandwich). The Rewatchers give you a play-by-play on some reused footage, discuss an evil window washer, and wish for a more character-driven story.

When Nick somehow gets himself wrapped up in international espionage, he must team up with Amanda to break into the Romanian embassy before the ambassador (who happens to be Bert’s ex?!?) can flee the country with stolen plans for… something. Meanwhile, in the B plot, Amanda kills an immortal statistician off-camera, after doggedly refusing to learn any lessons or grow in any meaningful way. The Rewatchers ponder the origins of Latin music in this show, enjoy some classic 90’s computer nonsense, and try to figure out why Bert is the most powerful man in Searonto.

Searonto is once again terrorized by dweeby old assassins, so Nick must stop an(other) immortal killer by stumbling through an(other) non-mysterious mystery! When Amanda seemingly ignores an old friend’s century long killing spree, Nick takes matters into his own hands and somehow things work out. The Rewatchers fail to keep it short, succeed in identifying Chekhov‘s taser, and attempt to rewrite the motivation for our entirely too evil villain.

When Nick sets his sights on Super Mario, an international assassin turned immortal celebrity chef, Amanda must decide whether to confront the evil pasta peddler or leave Nick to an unsavory fate. The Rewatchers try to figure out a Native American subplot, wonder why Mario subcontracts all his hits, and literally yell about the plot holes in this episode.

The Rewatchers take a deep dive into an ethical quagmire, learn the history of boxing rules, and crown the “best cop in Highlander.”

The Rewatchers try to crack the Watchers’ cat-based security system, get smashed on product placement at the Hennessy Hotel, and debate whether Methos (plot twist!) conspired to cross-off Amanda.

Season 3 is firing on all cylinders and this week’s rerun is no exception! ___________________________ Original Podcast Air Date: January 4, 2018 When an immortal Nazi wakes up after forty plus years of drowning, compliments of Father Bernie (Sanders) and a group of French freedom fighters, Mac must prevent the ageless war criminal from exacting revenge on the old priest by karate fighting white-supremacists goons. The Rewatchers discuss Mac's surprisingly relaxed attitude toward neo-Nazis (seriously Mac, wreck this clown), wish a tearful/relieved (for her) farewell to Anne, and debate (yet again) how the he(ck) holy ground works.

When this episode premiered, Kenny was a pretty controversial character and still may be, which is why this week’s rerun is “The Lamb!” _____________________________________________ Original Podcast Air Date: May 16, 2017 When the villainous Kenny, an ancient immortal sociopath trapped in the body of a young boy, worms his way into Mac's home, the gang must uncover the little jerk's murderous past before he turns on Mac and Anne. The Rewatchers discuss how the opening shots blunt the episode's tension (like a brick to head), meet the least threatening nerd immortal since Michael Moore, and almost throttle each other to get their hands on a totally rad "skate."

Every hero’s weapon deserves a kick ass origin story and Highlander's Duncan MacLeod is no different! The Rewatchers enjoy a sweaty first meeting with gym owner Charlie DeSalvo, do a barrel roll through the industrial complex in Duncan's backyard, and pour one out for the noble fallen Watcher - Josh.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT! Hello fellow Rewatchers! We were really thrilled with the response to our Endgame podcast series and our interview with Russell Mulcahy. We are excited to bring you a new batch of episodes but need to take a breather first! After year of lock-down we all have have been eager to get back into the world. However, due to various summer plans and new post lockdown work schedules we didn’t want to release episodes on an irregular basis. Plus, we have a Rewatcher wedding in the works which, as I’m sure many know, is a huge undertaking. We can’t wait to bring you new shows after this short break!
