Highlander Rewatched

The Four Horsemen reassemble, armed with a super virus bred by Kronos, to enact Methos’s brilliant plan to... poison a couple people... and then poison a couple more people. However, Methos leaves Duncan a trail of bread crumbs that (somehow) leads him to the Horsemen’s lair in a sweet abandoned submarine base. Predictably, carnage ensues. The Rewatchers bemoan the sorry state of mental health in Europe, break down some bonkers quickenings, and, as always, focus in on fonts.

Cassandra returns to Seacouver and reveals that the lovable Methos was a killing machine during the Bronze Age, who enslaved her and murdered her entire village. Mac must grapple with this new information while battling Methos’s former partner in villainy, Melvin... errr... Kronos. The Rewatchers spin the wheel of history, guess which horseman of the apocalypse is which, and try to figure out if Methos is actually smart.

Mac courts one of his trademark moral conundrums when his friend Ingrid, haunted by her failure to kill an overwrought Hitler with a penchant for hiding in shrubbery, arrives in Seacouver determined to kill a ascendant white supremacist at any cost. The Rewatchers take a deep dive into an ethical quagmire, learn the history of boxing rules, and crown the “best cop in Highlander.”

Richie sees the light when a mysterious Ron Perlman, claiming to be Methos, arrives in Seacouver with a gospel of peace, some gardening tools, and a host of ugly sweaters. However, Richie’s new found pacifism is immediately put to the test when a Confederate yachtsman/dirtbag is unwilling to put away his sword (or his leisure suit). The Rewatchers discuss the wider implications of the Church of Perlman, read their favorite Watcher Chronicle to date, and wonder why Richie never gets to have a decent quickening.

(L)Orca escapes sea world (a South American tomb) and uses his immortality, long hair, and bonkers accent to convince impressionable young immortals that he is god and Mac is the devil. Duncan must spill the beans to a mortal preacher/holy warrior/Pulp Fiction fan to take down the false god. The Rewatchers dive into the implications of immortal religious figures, revisit the rules of the game (yet again) and wonder about a “Carl Robinson” name drop.

5-7 Haunted by Highlander Rewatched

The Rewatchers dig deep into the mail bag to deliver some long overdue responses to some ancient listener mail! Tune in to hear some blisteringly hot alternative takes on Under Color of Authority, join Keith as he stirs up some feuds with our favorite listeners, and learn more than you ever wanted to know about rolling around in the hay.

Amanda unexpectedly reunites with her old partner in crime (literally) Cory Raines, an old time-y immortal bank robber who kicks off a Looney Toons episode when he robs a notorious gangster with a (very very small) army of goons and crooked cops. Mac tries and fails to stop the ensuing tomfoolery without blowing everyone up. The Rewatchers debate Mac’s insane Dennis Berry impression, wonder how many innocent people Amanda and Cory murdered, and groan over a confusing crime spree montage/sepia bonanza.

Antics ensue when Mac unexpectedly finds himself the poster boy for a series of schlocky romance novels loosely based on his exploits written by Sandra Bernhard, a mortal novelist with an inferiority complex who is equal parts thirsty for Duncan and hungry for payback against her immortal ex-husband. The Rewatchers shop for some tenderloin, discuss Mac's thoughts on immortal monogamy, and read a special behind the scenes letter from a fan on set!

Mac sees the true face of Johnny Cage, an immortal assassin and master of disguise, setting off a game of cat and mouse that can only be solved with Home Alone style antics, endangering Joe (as always), and tens of thousands of dollars in last minute advertising. Meanwhile, during a much better plot, Joe reconnects with an old flame and struggles to reveal his old injuries to a woman that knew him as an all-star athlete. The Rewatchers discuss a world-class performance from Jim Byrnes, recount their hands-on experience with the fight choreography, and bemoan the glommed on A-plot.

Returning immortal Carl Robinson’s stint in the MLB is cut dramatically short when some children see him decapitate an immortal challenger in broad daylight, leading to a dramatic MANHUNT (hey, that’s the name of this episode) led by Carl’s former teacher, Will from Will and Grace. Meanwhile, Mac forgets that he satisfied a 400 year old grudge over getting teased last episode and demands that everyone forget the past. The Rewatchers debate the morality of hunting down slavers, wonder why Carl’s coach is such a sad sack, and are rankled by Mac’s constant hypocrisy.

In this edition of the fabled Adrian Tapes, the Highlander dishes all about the outrageous Dennis Berry, director of a jaw-dropping thirty-four episodes including, The Vampire, Methos, and Finale Part II. Tune in to hear about the hot-headed director's clashes with local Parisians, difficulty with a massive smoke screen, and intense loathing of bananas. You won't want to miss a single juicy tidbit!

Richie is back with a bad attitude (dare we say, baditude?), terrorizing immortals and mechanics alike by picking fights and threatening arson. But when Richie takes the head of “Leather Boy,” squire to the immortal sword master “Horseradish,” Duncan steps in to save the day with his classic mix of hypocrisy, smugness, and Joe-exploitation. The Rewatchers celebrate the way Haresh Clay opens doors, waive a not-so-fond farewell to Richie’s sword, and wonder why Joe even bothers.

5-1 Prophecy by Highlander Rewatched

In another special Adrian Tape, the Highlander himself brings you some deep cuts about his costars (and the origin of ”The Indian you know”)! Tune in to hear all about Richie getting beaten up by a woman at a bar, Tessa’s run in with the cat police (the fuzz?), and an unexpected set visit from a bear.

There can be only one audio file! The Rewatchers engineered a retrovirus to fuse all four episodes of their Highlander: The Search for Vengeance coverage into one unstoppable anime gab fest. Your ears won’t know what hit them! (Amergan... it was Amergan that little Druid scamp).

In the exciting climax of Highlander: The Search for Vengeance, Colin teams up with the nearly nude Dahlia and the world's most inept rebels to take down Marcus (and stuff a grenade in his pet cat's mouth!) before he can unleash a flesh eating virus on the ruins of New York. The Rewatchers wonder why Hello Kitty flies a chopper indoors, breakdown the similarities with the original film, and crown the anime the "second best Highlander movie."

Episode 3 - The Search for Vengeance by Highlander Rewatched

In this chapter, we learn the origins of Colin's titular search for vengeance, as a bout of binge drinking and Dahlia (a prostitute with a heart of gold), trigger gruesome memories of ancient Romans crucifying his wife. When Colin discovers that the Roman leader, Marcus Octavius, now rules New York from a golden tower over Central Park, he teams up with Dahlia for a shot at Marcus's head. Also, he meets an druid ghost at a knock off Stonehenge. The Rewatchers discuss how many swords there are, meet Marcus's pet cat/ Mortal Kombat fighter of choice, and hulk a parking meter out of the ground and throw it 1000 feet like a javelin.

n the first exciting installment of the dystopian anime, Highlander: The Search for Vengeance, Colin MacLeod (allegedly of the clan MacLeod) crashes a BBQ hosted by a gang of demon mutants camped out in the ruins of New Jersey and then aces an immortal monster man that rides around on a six-foot chainsaw. Oh, he is also heckled by a ghost/rat/possessed baseball scoreboard that sounds like Wolverine. Yup- you read all that right! The Rewatchers take deep dive on anime legend Yoshiaki Kawajiri, unpack the initial differences between the American release versus the director's cut, and bid a fond farewell to the unholy mutants of New Jersey- we hardly knew ye.
