  • Why are you so angry-Pastor Edwin Colon - Audio

    19/02/2023 Duração: 33min

Hey family, Last week was a very emotional service. We started to examine times when we’ve been hurt, places where we feel justified to feel real bitterness and rage due to the harsh things that have been done to us – perhaps in the past, maybe even now in the present. As we looked at this, we saw that the religious response of stuffing down our feelings with platitudes that are hollow in the midst of tears is not helpful. Neither is exploding and releasing all our anger on the institutions, individuals, or systems that have harmed us. This week we’re going to take another deep dive into anger and discover how the scriptures can help us not only heal, but even use anger as a tool to grow in peace and trust in the Lord. I hope to see you—and please invite a friend as we continue in our series, MODERN PROBLEMS, ANCIENT SOLUTIONS. We’ll see you at 10 a.m. Sunday at 360 Schermerhorn St. --Edwin ANNOUNCEMENTS Kids’ Church begins at 10 a.m. for ages 5 – 12. Zo

Hey family, We’ve started this series, MODERN PROBLEMS, ANCIENT SOLUTIONS, with the idea that you and I face difficult emotions that result in insecurity, fear, and lives that are spent making the same mistakes over and over again. In the last two weeks we’ve discussed what shame is, how it affects us, and how we can combat it. Come this Sunday as we continue to address these most difficult emotions--and how the Gospel is the remedy to all the emotions that hurt us. Invite a friend, because difficult emotions face ALL of us. --Edwin ANNOUNCEMENTS Kids’ Church begins at 10 a.m. for ages 5 – 12. Zoom Bible study: The Ten Commandments. • UP IN MY EMOTIONS - Audio

    29/01/2023 Duração: 40min

Hey family, What’s the thing that we all go through, never talk about, never want to expose to anyone, and when we see it in others, we wince. It’s shame. Shame is universal. Everybody experiences it, but nobody wants to talk about it, because… it’s so shameful. This week in our new series—Modern Problems, Ancient Solutions: How the Gospels Heal Our Emotions—we're going to take a deep dive on shame. Bring it up, look at it for what it is, and see how the gospels can address and heal some of our darkest secrets, deepest hurts, and even a whole identity that is not in line with the gospel. This is so important, because shame has an effect on our romantic relationships, our interactions with our children, our work, how we view ourselves, the scripts that often go unnoticed and yet are very real in our minds… it literally affects every area of our lives. Invite a friend and join us—you don’t want to miss this series. Your whole view of life d

Hey family, I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.... For some, Christmas is the season of beauty, good will, and joy. But for others of us, it's a reminder of loss and pain and suffering. God is not unfamiliar with this. Christ was born during a time of loss and struggle for the Jewish people. And not only is God in control, but he is actively for us, and with us, and loving us. Please invite a friend to hear this good news. Service starts at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn St., and Kids' Church will be in session as well. Important--if you chose a child's hand from the Christmas tree outside of the kids' room, please bring a wrapped gift THIS SUNDAY for their Christmas party. --Edwin

  • The Lord is my rock-Pastor Will McGee - Audio

    18/09/2022 Duração: 28min

Hey family, how we imagine God will always determine how we approach him. If we imagine him as angry, we will hide from him. If we imagine him as disappointed, we will hang our heads in shame. In Psalm 18, King David gives us several images for who God is. If we have eyes to see, we will know that God is our rock, refuge, and shield––we can run to him, trust him, and follow him with confidence and joy. Join us at 360 Schermerhorn, 10 a.m. on Sunday, to hear this powerful word. --Edwin SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS * .Sunday Sept. 18th at 12 noon we start the monthly training for our justice and mercy team.
