here are so many things to be thankful for as we walk in Christ. So many blessings, the joy and the love that he gives even in the midst of difficult times. This Sunday before Thanksgiving we're going to be discussing the security that we found in Christ and seeing how that shapes the rest of our lives--our relationships, the way we view ourselves, and certainly the way we view God. Hey family, it's the time of year when our church has special opportunities to share God's love with our church neighbors. Our annual Thanksgiving feast will be held on Thursday, Nov. 27 and we need volunteers! Hey family, I don’t know about you, but I often find myself trying to improve everything--my habits, my health, my finances, my relationships. There’s always another thing to fix, another area to make better. But for all the things we try to improve, there’s one thing that doesn’t need improving at all and that’s Jesus. Because of the New York City Marathon this Sunday, we’re encouraging everyone to sleep in and skip the traffic — and instead, join us for our Annual Marathon Service & Volunteer Appreciation Night! Hey family, do you remember the Fonz? He was the coolest guy on TV. And the cool was his identity. As for Urkel, he was the ultimate nerd, from his suspenders to his giant glasses. What they had in common is that each one had something defining and directing their lives and their choices. Part of being a follower of Christ is joining with others in worshiping, hearing the word of God, praying, confessing, and more. We share joyful times together, and sometimes we mourn together. Hey family, what we're doing in the Book of Colossians is reminding ourselves where our identity comes from--what our identity is and who Christ is. As we see him, and grow in him, we become more and more like the person he created us to be. Hey family, we've all seen those movies where a person hits their head and forgets who they are, and the comedy that follows is a lot of fun because before the end of the movie their memory comes back and they figure out their real identity. This situation, however, is NOT fun when we've lived a life not knowing who we are. In this new series, "Identity Issues," we're going to address some of the lies that we believe and the truths that set us free. We're going to be studying through the Book of Colossians as we go through this super-important topic in our lives. We'll talk about relationships, how we see ourselves, self-talk, and interactions with ourselves, with God and with others. But as a Christian, what should be our next step after we blow it? How do we respond to God when we know that we've done wrong and hurt ourselves and others? Hey family, in every relationship, learning how to love is one of the most difficult and rewarding aspects of that relationship.  As we've gone through this series, we've seen not only how God is love, but how he's loved us. This week we're going to learn about how God is loving THROUGH us, and how that will affect every one of our relationships: marriages, children, parents, friends, co-workers and everyone else in our lives--including our church. So come with us as we learn this crucial skill for loving others. Hey family, we are continuing our series LOVE, LOVED, LOVING. The apostle John tells us: "This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." God is the source of love, and also the perfect example of what love is. It is unconditional. It is not dependent on our worthiness to receive it, for no one deserves God's love--and yet He loves everyone. Please join us Sunday and allow yourself to rest in the assurance of God's love. Hey family, sometimes when we're struggling with something, it seems like we're trying to escape from a very dark place. No matter which way we look, there are no answers to be found, and the direction we should go is completely obscured. It's at times like these that we need to remember the wisdom from scripture we're going to hear on Sunday. If you'd like to look ahead, read Psalm 103.
