Hey family, one of the things I want to do this January is lay out the year and where we're going. I want us to be focused on health. Healthy growth in Christ and healthy relating with others in our church, as well as a healthy connection with those outside of our church. We have an opportunity to grow in love with Jesus and with one another, and we want to take very intentional steps toward this. So let's start this Sunday to make 2025 one of those years where things deeply change in our hearts and also in our relationships. Bring a friend! Hey family, we are so pleased this Sunday to welcome Dr. Steven Smith as our guest speaker. He'll be speaking a message of deliverance for all of us. In the Book of Exodus, we learned that God used the struggles of the Israelites to bring them to himself. He freed them from slavery and guided them through the trackless desert on their way to the promised land. Just like the Israelites, we face struggles in our own lives. Our inside lives matter to God Hey family, we'll start this new year with a look at how important it is to examine our inside lives. We might work very hard to make sure others see a confident, capable person on the outside... but if we don't examine deep inside ourselves, we might get tripped up by unacknowledged anger, fear, or other emotions. Psalm 139 talks about how God knows us completely, all the way through, and how He is much more concerned what's going on with our hearts than what we show on the outside. Hey family, throughout this series we've learned some truths about work. Some of us view work as gross, a necessary evil to be endured. Others view work as God--the thing that we pour ourselves into and get our identify from. The truth is, work is worship, an opportunity to praise God with the gifts he's given us and thank him for the place he's given us to use them. This week we're going to look at another aspect of work that is actually one of the most important commands that God has ever given. That command is to stop work and take a day of rest, or as the Bible calls it, sabbath. The Sabbath is a fundamental part of our lives. It's a reminder of the work that God has already done and a way to hear him amid the hustle and bustle of life. I hope to see you, and bring a friend!
