Men are rather often treated like children of the 19th century – expected to be seen and not heard. Because of this and the natural human tendencies toward pride and laziness, men today find it convenient to be slothful in their continuous development. God frowns on this and calls men instead to investigate and understand His world and His word. In effect, God commands His men to grow up and keep on growing.

Today, the idea of standing for right seems laughable. A culture awash with relativism questions whether "right" is knowable. Grown males, trained to be selfish children in thought, look to their own pleasure and never consider standing up to evil. The few visible warriors for good tend to be female – a laudable fact made lamentable by the absence of male voices. Men have remained boys, leaving a cultural vacuum that is sucking our culture into space. The solution is a return to the great images of manhood in scripture – the warrior & the kinsman-redeemer.

The biblical ideal is a servant-leader, and men are called to be in charge leaders who are continuously giving of self to empower those around them. Jesus is the consummate example of servant leadership, and His Word contains numerous examples and calls for men to grow as imitators of Christ. In particular, men are called to exhibit biblical provision, husbandry, and fathering.

The Apostle Paul teaches us all how to run the life race victoriously. People of God must keep their focus! Specifically we must remain focused on truth; stay in control; keep looking to the end results; concern ourselves with pleasing God; sacrifice self; stay immersed in scripture; and avoid grumpiness.

Male and female both need reminded to keep their word, but men in particular are assaulted by an eternal adolescence in our society that applauds unreliability. The kingdom is comprised of Jews – and Gentiles – who accept Christ's invitation & covering. This is accomplished via both election and human response. In the present form of the kingdom, it involves all peoples who will trust Jesus. Those who will not are judged.
