  • 100NO 286: Does Money Make You Live Longer?

    23/09/2018 Duração: 27min

Does having more money make you live longer? On this episode we look at the countries leading the race in longevity (or more specifically life expectancy – click here if you want all the stats), and what impact their wealth might have. We look at a list of the wealthiest countries (we have used GDP per capita as a marker – there are many more you could use), and then also to discuss what impact health care systems have on longevity and quality of life. • 100NO 285: Dissecting Prof David Sinclair’s Fight Against Ageing

    16/09/2018 Duração: 23min

David Sinclair is as dedicated to the fight against ageing as we are to the graceful ageing movement. On this episode we discuss the different approaches western medicine and biotech companies are taking to the fight against ageing, compared to the approach we speak about on this podcast. As we outline a number of times on this podcast, this is not a personal attack on Prof Sinclair or anyone with a more medical philosophy on ageing. It’s intended to be a conversation starter and eye-opener on just how wide and varied humanity’s beliefs are on how to help humanity make the rest of their life the best of their life. Click here to watch the one-minute video featuring Prof David Sinclair and their latest strategies to fight ageing. Click here to watch the Power of 10 video Damian refers to in this episode. • 100NO 284: 86 and thriving | Smashing the ageing stereotype with David Dobson

    09/09/2018 Duração: 24min

David Dobson is not your average 86 year old. Recommended to us by BestMe Radio host, Carl Hammington, David Dobson is fit, active, sharp and inspired at 86 years young. When most people expect to be sitting in a chair, and likely in a nursing home, Dobson can be found training with Carl five days per week, travelling the world, working on projects and charitable causes that inspire him and essentially doing as he pleases. Now isn’t that what the 100 Not Out lifestyle is all about?! The post 100NO 284: 86 and thriving | Smashing the ageing stereotype with David Dobson appeared first on The Wellness Couch.

  • 100NO 283: Damo’s Bad Advice | Wellness Summit Recap | The Passage Of Time

    02/09/2018 Duração: 24min

With the 2018 Wellness Summit now behind us, Marcus & Damo reflect on their experiences from Summit #6. Damo had a number of 1:1 exchanges with attendees and shares some powerful, funny and touching moments – particularly of an attendee who saw Damo over 20 years ago and received some questionable advice (to which Damo sincerely apologised for!) We discuss the power of coming together in real life and bringing listeners, new wellness fans and the podcasters all together for one magical weekend. The power of the passage of time, as brought up by Marcus at The Wellness Summit, also gets a mention, as well as the importance of not blanket agreeing with everything everyone says (and cultivating the art of independent thought). Check out the hashtag #thewellnesssummit to see what we got up, or go to The Wellness Couch on Instagram and Facebook for a full wrap. • 100NO 280: What Happens To The Body When You Go Vegan

    12/08/2018 Duração: 30min

A recent article in the Sydney Morning Herald on the vegan diet sparked the interest of Marcus & Damian, particularly for how well written and balanced it was. It described how the body changes under a vegan diet, and MP & Damo discuss in detail the changes at Day 0, Day 90 and Day 365. Having interviewed vegans on 100 Not Out including Mimi Kirk, David Wolfe and Ruth Heidrich, it continues to be a fascinating conversation on just how to thrive on a solely plant-based diet. *** THE WELLNESS SUMMIT IS ALMOST HERE *** If you’ve loved this conversation and you haven’t yet booked in to The Wellness Summit, don’t miss out! This type of information and more will be on the menu. The final release of discounted tickets have just been made available, and only 80 seats remain at the time of recording. • 100NO 279: When To Improve & When To Let Go | The Lure Of Perfection | As The Twig Bends So Grows To Tree

    05/08/2018 Duração: 28min

We get into a deeper philosophical conversation on this episode, centred around Emerson’s one-liner “as the twig bends, so grows the tree.” Having recently returned from “the island where people forget to die”, we discuss – Have we fallen into the gap of thinking an area of our life is bad or average when in fact it’s incredible? What role has social media had in our desire to be “perfect”? Have we lost the art of being fulfilled at the simplest things? How do we choose when to improve on something and when to let it go? And so much more. A challenging conversation to have, hopefully an engrossing conversation to listen to. The Wellness Summit is almost here! Yet to get your tickets to The Wellness Summit? The FINAL release of discounted tickets is out now – snap them up at www.thewellnesssummit.com before they’re sold out! 30/07/2018 Duração: 27min

Marcus & Damian catch up for the first time since Ikaria. They’re excited to reconnect and talk passionately about the following – How much biohacking can we do on the gut? What level of fruit & vegetable intake Japan is recommending (notable the country #1 on life expectancy) All this and more on the latest episode of 100 Not Out. 22/07/2018 Duração: 27min

Hi 100 NOt Out listeners, Marcus here. I’m in Paris for three more days before returning home and have had plenty of thoughts buzzing around over the past six weeks in Europe. ON this episode I discuss three which have been major themes. The first revolves around the power of living in a village, the second is about my a-ha thoughts about movement, and the third about food. • 100NO 276: The French Paradox & Community Living With Cook Dordogne & Le Chevrefuille Founders Ian & Sara Fisk

    15/07/2018 Duração: 26min

For the last 10 days Marcus and family have been in the Dordogne region of France, in the south west to be exact about 2 hours from Bordeaux and learning so much about the French culture. If you’ve listened to 100 Not Out for a while or heard Marcus speak before, you’ll have heard of Jeanne Calment, the oldest human being ever to lived, making it to 122 years and 164 days. The incredible Frenchwoman did this whilst smoking for 95 years, drinking port wine every night and eating a kilo of chocolate each week. This example is by no means a valid reason to start smoking or increase your chocolate or alcohol consumption, but it does beg the question —- WHY? To have a chat about food, French culture and Jeanne Calment I am joined by Ian & Sara Fisk. Ian & Sara co-founded Le Chevrefuille – a beautiful farmstead, B&B and self-catering residence here in the Dordogne – and Cook Dordogne – a cooking school dedicated to helping people understand the French way of cooking and food preparation, especially in t

  • 100NO 271: 34 year old Tess Ley has cancer, two children, and an inspiring attitude

    10/06/2018 Duração: 29min

Our next guest is a big part of The Wellness Couch family who you may never of heard of … she’s not a podcaster or a health professional and has never been on one of our podcasts. But ask any of our long-time podcasters and they’ll all tell you about Tess Ley. Tess has been to The Wellness Summit and The Wellness Breakthrough … she sees Damo for her regular chiropractic care … and has regular contact with many other listeners of the podcasts on The Couch. In February this year … Tess – a wife and mother of two – sent Laurence, Brett, Damian and Marcus an email sharing in her upfront and almost darkly humorous way that she had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. At age 34, Tess is one of the more than 12 million people in our global village who will be diagnosed with cancer this year … and we believe she’s one of the more inspirational. You can keep in touch with Tess on Instagram. Below is a transcript of the Felt Sense Prayer which Tess reads. The Felt Sense Prayer I am the pain in your head, the knot in you

  • 100NO 270: How To Stop Judging & Being More Accepting & Authentic

    03/06/2018 Duração: 26min

Judgement. It’s everywhere. You get judged on a daily basis, perhaps on a minute by minute basis, and mostly without your knowledge. Often you get judged by the people you know and love and that can hurt the most. On this episode of 100 Not Out, we share some personal stories on being judged and what impact it can have on personal fulfillment. We share our own tips on how to minimize judging (it will never be eliminated) and on developing the courage and resilience to be authentic and accepting. A big thanks to Alice Murkies and Rhonda Hafey for being the catalysts to this conversation. Alice and Rhonda have both had their parents interviewed on 100 Not Out and are pictured here with Marcus. Alice is the daughter of Ada Murkies, recipient of the Siberian Exile Cross for her heroics during the second World War. Rhonda is the daughter of football legend Tommy Hafey, who was featured on episode two of 100 Not Out and is still to this day the favourite episode of many loyal listeners. We are extremely fortunate to have music royalty on 100 Not Out – a big shout out to Sam Gowing from Food Health Wealth for making this possible by falling in love with our guest (you may have heard Normie Rowe make an appearance on this episode of 100 Not Out! Normie Rowe AM was Australia’s undisputed FIRST KING OF POP back in the 1960s. He was the first Australian artist to EVER have two TOP 3 singles simultaneously for three consecutive weeks. Normie Rowe & The Playboys supported Roy Orbison in the US, represented Australia alongside The Seekers at Expo 67 in Montreal, and lay claim to the biggest selling Australian single of the 1960s with Que Sera Sera. Today’s interview is not all about music though, because behind the glitz of the glamour of being a rock star, Normie has experienced more than fair share of hardships. To share the ups and the downs of an incredible life that is still going strong at 71 Not Out, it’s a very warm welcome to the great Normie Rowe AM. The post 100NO 268: Normie Rowe AM

  • 100NO 267: How To Smell A Rat In The Wellness World

    13/05/2018 Duração: 29min

There are so many wellness “experts” these days it can be difficult to know who to follow. On this episode we discuss what some of the signs are of a rat in the wellness world. Who can you trust and who can you unfollow? Here are some of the signs we discuss – How long have they been eating that way / moving that way / thinking that way? Is this just their latest fad or crash diet that they are sharing? How long have they been doing what you WANT to do? Is the expert prepared to be WRONG or are they constantly defending their beliefs? How do they look? If they are a “health” expert, are they a picture of health? How much of their PERSONAL life do they share? Their family don’t have to be in the public eye but they can’t be a secret either. Are they nice human beings with a pleasing personality? They don’t have to be an extrovert, but experts and mentors are better when they’re decent human beings. Do they think they’re better than you? If so, conversation over. Enjoy this episode of 100 Not Out! ALSO … Regi
