100NO 266: Herbalism – Fad Or Fantastic with Naked Naturopath Mel Gearing
06/05/2018 Duração: 27minMarcus often wonders if modern herbalism is just another fad or way to make people feel like they’re not doing something they think they should. We look at the 100 Not Outers and wonder how much herbalism is a part of their life, and if it’s something only to be used in times of poor health or as part of a healthy lifestyle. To discuss all of this and more we welcome one of the newest members of The Wellness Couch family. Mel Gearing is host of The Naked Naturopath podcast, and apart from being a naturopath she is a qualified nutritionist and clinical herbalist and the founder of MG herbs. She’s written three books on the topic and sees clients in her practice in Newcastle. 100NO 265: Dr John Demartini Pt 2 At His Provocative Best On Life, Love, The Diseases Of Meaning & More
29/04/2018 Duração: 28minWe are blessed to have Dr John Demartini join us for the THIRD time on 100 Not Out in this special 2-part interview. Dr Demartini’s work gets a regular mention on our podcast but it would be unfair to Dr Demartini and our listeners – especially the new ones -if we didn’t provide some context as to why we hold him in such high regard … As a young child, John Demartini wore hand and leg braces to correct a birth defect. At school he had difficulty reading, writing and speaking which was later diagnosed as dyslexia and a speech impediment. In first grade, his teacher announced to his parents that he would never read, write, communicate, never amount to anything, nor go very far in life. At the age of 14 he left school and headed for Hawaii where at 17 he had a near death experience as a result of strychnine poisoning. When he was 17, he met a 93 year old man called Paul Bragg who assisted him to awaken to an inspired vision of becoming a teacher, healer and philosopher. To cut a long story short, he went on to d

100NO 263: Sam Gowing on I Quit Sugar, Donna Hay & Lisa Messenger’s Collective Hub
15/04/2018 Duração: 34minIt’s been a remarkable 60 days in the wellness industry. Sarah Wilson has closed down I Quit Sugar, and in the last week Donna Hay and News Corp have parted ways, whilst Lisa Messenger revealed that episode 52 of Collective Hub will be it’s final printed magazine (taking it exclusively online). What’s happening in the industry? How do we explain the rise and fall, the volatility and vulnerability of leaders in health, wellness and personal growth, and their transformations. We are not suggesting for a minute that any of the three examples here are failures of any kind. They simply demonstrate that wellness and personal empowerment is an ever-changing landscape, and what is trendy and popular today may very well be tomorrow’s fish-and-chip wrapping. To help us wade through the maze, we welcome back Samantha Gowing. When the day spas and restaurants and health food stores of the world want a wellness-inspired menu, when a food company is in strife or when a budding entrepreneur in wellness just wants to do it r

21/01/2018 Duração: 27minDamian is just back from a trip to Cambodia with his wife, Amber, and they both had a bout of illness during the trip. Without his trusty cabinet of herbs, probiotics and tinctures, what did Damo do to bring himself back to health? After talking it out, there were 8 specific actions Damo took in order to best deal with his challenge whilst on holiday. But it wasn’t just what he did (or didn’t do). 100NO 250: The Art Of Forgiveness, Dealing With Challenge & Cultivating Optimism
14/01/2018 Duração: 24minIt seems that the longest-lived people with the most fulfilment in life are those that forgive easily. So how can YOU do the same thing? Do you have to wait until you are older in order to be at peace with your life? Absolutely not. This episode discusses how people forgive, how long-lived people deal with challenge, and how they cultivate optimism. If you can master the art of forgiveness, and cultivate fulfilling optimism in your life, you are well on your way to living the 100 Not Out Lifestyle. Want more? 100NO 249: 7 Reasons Women Live Longer Than Men
07/01/2018 Duração: 28minMarcus recently came across this BBC article, discussing some of the suggested reasons women live longer than men. Across any country, and across any period of time, women have tended to outlast their male counterparts by an average of 3 years. The reasons listed below and in this podcast are not our views, they are simply a summary of the BBC article. In this episode, we discuss the merits of each reason, the ones we like and agree with, and the ones we don’t (like being taller). Is 2018 the year you join us on the Greek Island of Ikaria for our 100 Not Out Longevity Experience? Check out our highlights video from 2016 here. Some excerpts from the BBC article appear below. Idea #1 – Men work harder Men work harder (physically) – the view is that the gap may begin to change with both men and women largely doing sedentary work. In fact, the difference in lifespan has remained stable even throughout monumental shifts in society. Consider Sweden, which offers the most reliable historic records. In 1800, life ex
