  • 100NO 385: COVID Games To Make The Day OK

    09/08/2020 Duração: 25min

Almost every human being on the planet has spent more time at home in the last 6 months than at pre-COVID times. This has given rise to more and more ways to pass the time. Whilst sitting in front of the TV used to seem lazy and overindulgent, now it’s become a form of self-love, especially for the previously overworked community. Hugh Jackman has revelaed his love of puzzles on the Tim Ferriss podcast, others their love of music whilst for some, binge-watching Ken Burns documentaries or series they never “had the time to” in pre-COVID times have become an unexpected nice surprise. Do let us know your favourite COVID games or hobbies by connecting with us on Facebook or Instagram. We record our podcast each Wednesday at approx 3pm AEST on Facebook – be sure to tune in if you’re free

  • 100NO 384: Making the day OK – dealing with mental “unhealth” during this time

    02/08/2020 Duração: 23min

For many people (and big love to our Melbournian listeners and others who are in lockdown at the moment), this is an extremely challenging time to be chipper, cheerful and bright. Mental “unhealth” or unwellness as Damian refers to it in this episode, is a major issue, perhaps even greater than the numbers of COVID19. How we all “make the day OK” is going to be different for all of us. Some make the day a win by watching TV in their pyjamas all day, whilst others prefer to go for walks or sleep in. Enough of the judgement on what is right or wrong, good or bad ways to get through this time. Making the day OK – however that looks for you – is most important. 12/07/2020 Duração: 25min

With metropolitan Melbourne going back in to lockdown, Damian shares what it’s like to be in the thick of it. We discuss the untold statistics of mental health challenges, especially suicide, and the greater impact of COVID19 beyond the condition itself. We talk about cancer, diabetes and obesity paying a far bigger price on mortality than COVID19, and ponder the selective choices of the media to once again choose the ‘bad’ news over the ‘good’ news. 31/05/2020 Duração: 28min

If the fountain of youth is food, perhaps the smart people of Queensland Health think that artificially sweetened soft drink is the silver bullet to get you there faster. You see, when you visit a hospital in North West Queensland these days, soft drinks with high amounts of sugar have been removed in place of artificially sweetened soft drinks. Apparently, that’s a step in the right direction. You can check the article out here and listen to this episode to see what we think about it. • 100NO 374: Dropping The Diet Identity & Returning to Normality

    24/05/2020 Duração: 23min

It’s so easy to become defined by your diet – vegan, gluten free, real food, LCHF, paleo, raw. Whatever you eat, it’s easy for it to become another episode of “Keeping up with the Jones’s”. On this episode we discuss – amongst many topics – our own journeys in moving on from our diet identifying us as who we were. For Marcus, it was being vegan. For Damo, it was ‘real’ food. He discusses being noticed in New Zealand by a viewer of his TV show, Downside Me! Damian, who became known as “Downsize Damo” felt pressured to eat a certain way. If you feel pressure to eat a certain diet or to maintain a certain identity based on your food choices, we think you’ll love this episode.
