Highlander Rewatched

Mac finds himself at a severe disadvantage when Watcher Rita (Repulsa) develops an uncomfortably sexual mother/mentor relationship with her immortal charge, Michael Christian, and feeds him insider information to to give him the edge against Duncan and Duncan's implausible former lover, May-Ling. The Rewatchers dive deep into the guts of this episode with some extensive Highlander Rewrites, try to unpack Joe's obligations as a Watcher, and wonder why Richie never gets to have any fun.

To celebrate their 100th episode, the Rewatchers throw a party for all of their favorite "guests" that brought them this far. Things get weird (real fast) as the parade of stars enjoy Keith's replica cocktail wieners, discusses the afterlife with departed friends like Macho Man Randy Savage, and tries to figure out what a "key party" is with Slan the Cat. As a special treat, Christophe and his stunt double/roommate Chris do a jazzy musical number that matches their creepy odd couple vibe! In the Rewatchers' 100th episode (no joke- they just broke off a hundo), they are joined by Highlander star and fan favorite Stan Kirsch! Join the Rewatchers as they discuss the evolution of Richie Ryan, some sweet motorcycle doubling, a Highlander convention engagement ring, and the Kirsch method of acting.

Compare notes with the Rewatchers as they tally up Mac's total headcount, quickenings, accrued, and BFF body count. The gang does some questionable math, recalls Duncan's most murderous half season to date, and tries to escape the death sentence that follows all of Duncan's friends.

When Mac's alleged friend Benny "Kielbasa" Carbassa cooks up a dubious plan to blackmail an aging philanthropist with his gangster past, Kielbasa places Duncan and Anne squarely in the ancient gangster's crosshairs. The Rewatchers try to unpack the inscrutable scheme that places our heroes in danger, debate Kielbasa's cartoonish performance, and get bummed out by Anne's puzzling and self-destructive decision to get back together with Duncan.

After a grimy lawyer/sex tape enthusiast films Mac in the midst of a beheading, Duncan must outmaneuver the sleazy litigator's efforts to blackmail him into killing his wife while staying one step ahead of the flamboyant Lyman Kurlow, an immortal criminal that escaped Mac's sweet justice centuries ago. The Rewatchers get lost in an epic hedge maze, enjoy some over-the-top theatrics (and an epic pool flip!) from friend of the show Anthony De Longis, and try to "hold it in" for a stakeout with Joe.

The Rewatchers are back with another Minisode! This week we translate some listener mail from the set of Highlander 2, learn the rules of a new Highlander Drinking Game, and continue our tradition of rating snack foods.

When Duncan suffers recurring nightmares of the Ghost of Christmas Future taking his head, Mac goes to his gargoyle-carving pal John Garrick for advice. The Rewatchers debate municipal art shows, tally Bruce Lee's arsenal of weapons, and wonder why Anne doesn't dump Mac.

In this very special Chronicle Episode, the Rewatchers have a colorful chat with producer Ken Gord, who shares some amazing behind the scenes insights and tidbits from his time on Highlander. When his supposedly romantic friend David reveals himself to be an abusive ex-boyfriend, Mac refuses to call the police and makes a ham fisted attempt to diffuse the situation himself. It does not go well. The Rewatchers groan over the endless amount of reused footage, get intensely uncomfortable over the apparent moral pushed by this episode, and wring whatever satisfaction they can out of Mac kicking David into a puddle.

When the villainous Kenny, an ancient immortal sociopath trapped in the body of a young boy, worms his way into Mac's home, the gang must uncover the little jerk's murderous past before he turns on Mac and Anne. The Rewatchers discuss how the opening shots blunt the episode's tension (like a brick to head), meet the least threatening nerd immortal since Michael Moore, and almost throttle each other to get their hands on a totally rad "skate."

The Rewatchers settle old scores in this profoundly trivial minisode! The Rewatchers revisit their most contentious (and least consequential debate) over the possible entrances to Joe's Bar (#AlakazamJoe), chew loudly into their microphones, and determine once and for all(ish) the ultimate cheese cracker (#ThereCanBeOnlyOne).

The Rewatchers extract their last trickles of sweet, sweet content from the withered husk of LashCon by bringing you exclusive interviews from Jeremy Orr and Andrew Modeen, writers/directors of the ambitious fan films Highlander: the Watcher and Highlander: Dark Places, respectively. Tag along with the Rewatchers as they discuss the production process for these original films, the immortal super-weapon known as the jacket throw, and some quality (nay, excellent) horses.

When Duncan's old pal Cullen, a legendary immortal swordsman with a crippling coke addiction, winds up on a collision course with Richie (pun intended), Mac struggles to save his fallen friend and his young protege. The Rewatchers get pumped over one of the series's most realized characters, try to figure out how the impeccably named immortal Zoltan Lazlo got so dirty, and have their most bonkers debate ever over the entrance to Joe's bar (no joke it's insane).

After a predictable car accident claims the life of a petulant pre-immortal girl, Mac must take the wretched eighteen year old under his wing and protect her from a Hawaiian-shirt wielding lech that wants to use her as bait. The Rewatchers enjoy some impressive swordplay, get thoroughly grossed out by the hyper-sexualization of the female lead, and celebrate the illustrious Highlander tradition of unattended funerals.

After Joe meets the love of his life at the local library, she is violently killed by an art obsessed immortal before she has the opportunity to say a single line of dialogue, forcing Amanda and Duncan to stage a daring heist to lure the murderous art snob into the open. The Rewatchers go deep into the weeds of some amazing IMDB descriptions (we're looking at you Xtreme Dinosaurs), jam out to the first blues performance by Jim Byrnes, and try to figure out why the immortal of the week roars like a T-rex.

In this bonus episode, the Rewatchers reach into the vault of its Lash-Content for its interview with Derek May and Daniel Shaw, creators of the stop-motion fan film, Highlander Veritas.
