One Hand Speaks

This year when I went back to Nepal for my second visit and Buddhist Pilgrimage, I was speaking to a local who told me Nepal just passed a law allowing non-residents to own a condo.

Seeing the Red Hot Chili Peppers live in concert in California this past weekend was worth the wait. I grew up with this band in the soundtrack of my life. I had a most incredible experience. And they opened up with the song I wanted to hear the most!!

I am going to see and hear the Red Hot Chili Peppers live in concert in California!! This is a life long concert dream about to come true!

So I almost got stranded in Kathmandu, Nepal after my Buddhist Pilgrimage was completed. At the time I was returning from abroad back to the USA, a negative Covid Viral Test (CVT) was required to to return and enter the United States.

"From the beginning..." is a phrase describing being born with only one hand. I heard for the first time in Kathmandu, Nepal while I was in Nepal this year on my Buddhist Pilgrimage.

Just a quickie podcast about my last couple of days in Nepal. In my last days in Kathmandu, Nepal I actually started to feel like a tourist... And it felt pretty good.

This short story is about a short conversation a one handed guy struck-up with me a couple of days ago about his life, and all the physical pain he has been experiencing since he lost his hand in a car accident.

This question came up many times and I have been telling these stories since I returned. I had dinner with a good friend today in Boise and I shared these interactions and my response of, "I am not a tourist. I am a pilgrim."

There are usually all kinds of scams being run no matter where you go in the world. Especially if you are a "tourist." And certainly in Kathmandu, Nepal. 

The one handed thing in Nepal is a thing! I get a lot of stares and looks of contemplation. Sometimes it is confusion. Other times my one-handedness bring people into shocked self consideration.

I think it is so interesting, cool, and special I would such sweet experiences with children right as I am walking away from of the most sacred places for Buddhist in Nepal.

I have finally arrive back in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is the 2022 and I have returned for my second pilgrimage.

Today's podcast celebrates my 5 year anniversary with a short story that happened today and a thank you to all my listeners and supporters. 

Last week I went back to a routine I did almost everyday before the pandemic. "It's been two years" was the phrase I heard a lot that day. 

I love May Day!! What can I say? It is my favorite Holiday. In the year 2000 I had my first May Day Celebration in my back yard

I have spoken about the differences between how little boys and little girls respond to me and my one-handedness.

After "Pandemic-ing" for the past two years and staying at home "quarantining," like most of the world, I have purchased a plane ticket back to Nepal.

It takes a different kind of effort and process to get back into shape after 50 years of age and 15 months of injury. 

As we entered the security screening area I noticed "Hotel California" playing on over the sound system. That is all I needed to hear!!

I am now starting to experience long periods of time without an extreme pain in either arm!! After 14 months, this is a welcome experience.
