Hey Family: Wow, we were blessed by the number of people who came to us for Thanksgiving yesterday! Our volunteers handed out almost 400 plates of food--turkey, stuffing, pie and much more--to a long, long line of grateful recipients. God was watching over us all. We have been in a series that has reminded us about those times when life happens when the unexpected causes a pause between a promise made and a promise fulfilled. In The Land Between, we have learned that in those times, a response is needed. This week join us as we close out the series and learn the last thing that should influence our response.

Hey Family: When problems come, when things get hard, when we fail or fall, the urge to isolate can be so strong. This, on top of a culture that tells us to always focus on ourselves, can often lead us into more trouble. God’s heart is that we not face life's difficulties alone but instead lean into and pursue community. Hey Family, we've been learning how to navigate the place we call The Land Between. That confusing place between where we were and where we hope to be. This Sunday Pastor Gus will talk about how our emotions may cloud our worship, causing us to forget how God provides for us in the land between our old life and our new. Hey Family: In the midst of a divided country, fears about finances and health, trouble in relationships and at work, how can we find peace? Hello family, I love our church. When we get together on Sunday to worship Jesus, the gathering creates a beauty that can't be duplicated or replaced. We've started a brand-new series called "Besetting Sins," talking about those behaviors that make us fall again and again and leave us crying in sadness and frustration. In our series, we've been discussing the strategy for how to defeat these sins. In week 1 we gave a layout of the series, on week 2 we talked about how to AVOID whatever situations tend to lead us toward our sins, and last week we talked about literally saying NO to the actions that harm us. You do not want to miss this week as we talk about a key component to overcome our hangups, our sins, our defects that hold us in a painful place.

Hey Family, we’re in a series called Besetting Sins, addressing those recurring temptations that have overcome us throughout the years. The series is meant to provide us a strategy for combatting that kind of sin. Last week we learned the first step: AVOID the triggers, the stumbling blocks—those things that might seem fine on the surface but always lead us back to our longtime sins. This week we’re going to add step two of our strategy. It involves one of the most powerful words in our vocabulary, even though it’s also one of the smallest.

Hey Family, Several years ago, we came up with how we wanted to describe RHOW's mission. This is how we explain it to anyone who asks: We exist to SHARE the good news of Jesus Christ; HELP hurting people at the point of their need, and EQUIP all to reach others for Christ. In these three ways, we show the love of Christ to all who come to our doors, and we also take his love out to the world. Hey Family, Everybody feels ashamed at some point. Maybe we betray a loved one, or let down a friend who badly needs our help. Maybe we tell a major lie to cover up for ourselves, or cheat on a bill. Shame can be painful and hold us back from fully embracing the love of God and His call on our lives. But Jesus' power is greater than the shame that holds us down. This Sunday we will be talking about God’s power to transform our shame into our glory. Please join me in welcoming our guest speaker, Pastor Drew Jackson of Hope Church.
