Today is the first day that college recruiting is officially back and prospects can start making on campus unofficial and official visits. So, we caught up with Iowa football Director of Recruiting, Tyler Barnes, to get his perspective on what the last 15 months have been for Hawkeye football recruiting and their big plans for the month of June. We discuss how they are addressing name,image, and likeness with recruits, the importance of camps for the Class of 2023 and beyond and a whole lot more.

Back to back podcasts, this time Tom Kakert and Matt Randazzo are joined by former Hawkeye and current Los Angeles Ram, Jake Gervase. We catch up on his NFL career and a transition from defensive back to linebacker. And we also discuss some Iowa football for the upcoming season. It’s been a few weeks, but the pod is back. Matt Randazzo and Tom Kakert discuss the hiring of Jason Manson, the early betting lines for Iowa football, the big recruiting time coming up for Iowa football and basketball, the Hawkeye baseball team limping to the finish line, and Jordan Bohannon’s scary off the court incident.

Spring football was wrapped up and Tom Kakert and Matt Randazzo review what we learned from the Hawkeyes in the second viewing of practice. Is there a true race at quarterback? Are there injury concerns along both the offensive and defensive lines? Plus, Kirk Ferentz went on a rant about a new NCAA fall camp rule. Then we talk recruits in Iowa City and the NFL Draft for the Hawkeyes.We wrap up talking about an Iowa basketball returning to the fold, this time on scholarship.

Tom and Matt are back together to talk plenty of Hawkeye news. We open with a short reminder of the Chuck Long Charity Auction coming up this weekend and then dive into a discussion about Jordan Bohannon’s return and if Iowa is an NCAA Tournament team next year. Then we preview Saturday’s final spring football practice in Iowa City and also some big time recruits that will be in town to watch it. Finally we wrap up talking some NFL Draft, Iowa baseball, and the College Football Playoff potentially expanding.

A little bit of news so we did a quick podcast to discuss it. Kyle Huesmann joins Tom Kakert on the pod to discuss the return for a sixth year of Jordan Bohannon and the impact it will have on the Iowa basketball team. Will he move to the two guard? How will that impact the minutes of the younger players? We discuss all of it and some potential intriguing lineups. Then we lean on Kyle to discuss Iowa baseball after their thrilling come from behind walk-off win at Banks Field on Monday. Kyle discusses the game today, where Iowa stands in the Big Ten race, and if they have a chance to qualify for the NCAA Tournament this year.

Big news for the Iowa basketball program, after a rough week on the news front, the Hawkeyes have picked up a commitment from North Dakota graduate transfer Filip Rebraca. John Bohnenkamp jumps on the pod with Tom Kakert for an emergency reaction pod and we also discuss more on the Fredrick departure and a new in-state hoops offer in the Class of 2022.

C.J. Fredrick is entering the transfer portal and leaving the University of Iowa. That means it’s time for an emergency podcast to discuss why he’s leaving, what it means for the Hawkeye program,and if Fran McCaffery has to now dip further into the transfer portal to find help at the shooting guard position. Plus we discuss a big man Iowa is looking into for next year and a few quick football recruiting notes.

The first open spring practice is in the books, so let’s recap what we saw and what we learned from the day. Tom Kakert is joined by Leah Vann, the new Iowa football beat writer for the Cedar Rapids Gazette to look back on what we saw from the Hawkeyes. We look at each position group and discuss what we saw from the quarterbacks to the specialists.

A basketball transfer and a possible return to the Hawkeyes means an emergency podcast from us. We discuss the potential return of Jordan Bohannon as a super senior and the impact it could have on the roster. Iowa got off to a fast start and picked up a win in the NCAA Tournament over Grand Canyon. Tom Kakert and Matt Randazzo look back at the Hawkeyes victory which was keyed by Luka Garza, Joe Wieskamp, and Keegan Murray. We look ahead to the game against Oregon and what the Ducks bring to the table. Then we take a look at the Hawkeyes winning the national title in wrestling and the amazing performance by Spencer Lee.

It’s time for the NCAA Tournament and Tom Kakert and Matt Randazzo preview the Hawkeyes facing Grand Canyon. We dive into the the game and the slow pace that the Antelopes play at and how turnovers will be key. We also discuss the rest of the Big Ten and also have a little trivia about Sweet 16 teams since Iowa last made it that far in the NCAA Tournament. We talk some Iowa women’s hoops and their NCAA journey, the Hawkeye wrestlers solid first day at the NCAA Tournament, and preview Iowa’s NFL Pro Day coming up on Monday.

The Hawkeyes are in the NCAA Tournament and are a #2 seed facing Grand Canyon on Saturday evening, so of course we had to do another podcast this week. Matt Randazzo (driving back from Indiana, apologize for the audio) and Tom Kakert check in on what they know about Grand Canyon University and the challenge they present. We discuss Iowa’s overall draw in the NCAA Tournament. Then we wrap up discussing Iowa football reportedly hiring former Hawkeye Ladell Betts as the new running backs coach.

With the Big Ten announced their all conference teams on Tuesday and for the second straight year, Luka Garza was named Player of the Year. We discuss the All Big Ten teams this year and we dive into the upcoming Big Ten Tournament and give our thoughts on how far the Hawkeyes can go. We also discuss the NCAA Tournament and if the Hawkeyes are locked into a two seed and some possible opponents. We wrap up discussing a Devyn Marble tweet and Gary Barta’s response to it earlier on Tuesday.

This time it was a win over Wisconsin and then the announcement that Luka Garza would have his number retired. We talk about the emotion of the game and also the ankle injury to Joe Wieskamp.
