Throughout the year we participate in communion, and very often we can overlook the simplicity, yet powerful message conveyed in this act. When we take communion, we have the chance to look BACK, look WITHIN, and look AHEAD with everything Jesus is doing. This isn’t your ordinary meal here, it’s a powerful time of what the Greeks would call “Koinonia,” and something we get to proclaim until Jesus returns.

After Jesus had his triumphant entrance on Palm Sunday one of the first things He did was go to the temple, and what He found made Him very…wait for it…ANGRY! Tables were flipped over, a whip was made, and the driving out of the Thieves had begun! That’s right, Jesus got angry! Today we will look at why He did this, why was this the moment that made Him mad after everything He had gone through, and what was the message He was conveying to us about our hearts?

Palm Sunday, the triumphal entry in Jerusalem is what kicked off the last 7 days of Jesus time on Earth before is crucifixion. We may know the story… Jesus on a Donkey, palm branched, the declarations of Hosana! This may seem like a simple event, but everything about this specific entry on a donkey tells us so much about the character, person, and deity of scripture and foretold about the events that would rock the world in just one week…

So often we can hear the phrase, “We need to walk with God.” But what if we don’t know HOW to walk with God? Walking with someone means that you are headed to a similar destination, you have a similar pace, and you have to be in sync in your travels. Today we will look at what is means to “Walk with Jesus” as we prepare to unpack the last week of His life headed to his Crucifixion.

Throughout our life we will experience our ups and downs, and unfortunately when the downs hit it can lead to poor choices. When we have a “slip up,” weather it be small or large, sometimes we end up feeling broken, worthless, or unable to be used by God. Luckily for us, we have a God who is our ultimate “Fixer Upper,” and He is in the business of restoring His children who may feel broken into amazing masterpieces!

We lose things all the time, don’t we? Phones, wallets, directions, sometimes our very minds! When we lose something, sometimes we go crazy in our pursuit of whatever it is, until we finally find it. What if we looked at people who don’t know Jesus as “lost?” How do we pursue them, and how does God pursue them? What will he or won’t He do in his relentless pursuit of His people?

How can you not see that?” You may catch yourself saying that as some point in life, in particular with your kids! We often see things around us that don’t make sense, and we can ask God, “Are you NOT seeing what I am seeing?” Let me tell you, not only does He see it, but He CARES about it! Today will talk about what it means when we say that God sees everything, and He cares about all that He sees!

Do you ever feel like when you pray, your prayers go “unheard?” Maybe you feel like God just isn’t listening to you, you are constantly trying to communicate, but maybe He just isn’t hearing what you are saying. We can all ask these questions, and this week we will unpack how God always HEARS us, but HOW are we going about the “asking” part of prayer?

Have you ever felt as if you were in a rut, and you just wish God would say SOMETHING to you? Often we can feel like that we haven’t heard from God in a long time, but what if the issues wasn’t that He wasn’t saying anything, what if we had to learn how to listen? This week we will see that God is Always speaking to us, and that looks different in so many ways! Let’s learn how we can listen better to hear what He is telling us!

As we finish our series on Beginnings, we will ask ourselves the question “How can I be a part of what God is doing in the world?” We constantly mess up and we talked about that last week when we discussed “the fall.” But does our mess up take away the promises and covenants that God started with Adam and carried throughout scripture? What happens when we break a covenant? What price is paid? How do we move forward today, and how can we partner with God for HIS best for us?

What’s your problem? We probably have all heard that at some point directed at us, or maybe have even asked that question to some one else. As we continue our series on “Beginnings” we are going to ask ourself that question, “What’s MY problem?” Genesis 3 points us toward this with some harsh truth, but also begins the story of the most amazing redemption in history!

Last week we asked “Why are we here?” Today we will ask “Who am I?” Genesis says that God created us, but who did He create you to be? If you were created in His image, that must mean that life is more than just day to day, job to job, task to task living right? We were made in the IMAGE of God, He gave us some incredible attributes and incredible responsibilities, and we have the privilege of living with HIS stamp on our lives.

In Jesus’ sermon on the mount, he says “Blessed are the poor in Spirit,” but what does that mean? The word “Poor” often has a negative impact when we hear it, and often we spend our lives trying not to be “poor,” or reaching out to help the “poor.” But what if we are missing the point. What if poor means more than we think it does, and what if we are supposed to apply some aspects of being “poor” into our own life?

The most basic question of life is this: Why are we here? It’s foundational for virtually every religion and philosophy. It’s a universal question. Today we start a new series called Beginnings, and we start with that question…why are we here? We definitely were made for a reason and with a purpose, and in Genesis 1 we see the beginning of OUR creation, purpose, and meaning!

Peace is something that is hard to come by this season. Christmas brings about chaos, shopping frenzy, family drama, and the season can turn from Joy to chaos. In the midst of our storms, Jesus offers us a peace that only he can bring, and this peace started with the proclamation to a group of shepherds that PEACE was born!

In the past couple years, our lives have been rocked with uncertainty. From covid, to politics, to mandates…so much is changing and its easy to lose hope. This Sunday we kick off the Christmas season here at Celebration Church, and we will talk about how in the midst of crazy, we get to enter the Advent season with Hope. Hope for who He is, and we can be reminded by those in scripture just how full we can be when we never lose Hope.
