    Jodie & Soda speak with Channel 7 Reporter Mark Mooney on an alleged plot by two teenage boys to massacre students and staff at a Riverland high school.Two teenagers a 16-year-old and 18-year-old had allegedly been planning a massacre at a South Australian school using knives and explosives, but their plot was thwarted when fellow students alerted police.Police believe there would have been significant casualties if the attack had gone ahead before the end of the school year. It's believed the pair had been planning the attack since June 1.Mooney says friends and family alerted police that the students were talking about the attack but it’s still not certain on the motive for the plot.“As you can imagine in a country town, that fellow students on Facebook are talking about why they think the kids were going to do this but at this moment we don’t have a confirmed motive”

    In Australia, an average of one woman is killed every week at the hands of a current or former partner. In the Adelaide metro area alone, South Australian police receive around 400 call each week on domestic violence matters, with 10% of these considered high risk. SA Vinnies CEO David Wark tells Jodie & Soda they are opening a Women's Crisis Centre to complement our existing men's shelter and support women with short term, emergency accommodation.Authorities often have no choice but to temporarily house women in motel style accommodation, where many make the decision to return to a dangerous and abusive relationship.Wark hopes the news facility will provide a safe place for women in Adelaide and hopefully will change the behaviour on many returning to unsafe homes. “The statistic is 8 times a woman will leave and go back before they make the hard call I’m out permanently”Located in the Northern Suburbs the centre is a 20 room facility anticipated to accept guests from October 2017 and will be staffed 24

    Jodie & Soda speak with Westminster student Abigail Wicks who along with fellow students have won the Year 10 section of the National Maths Talent Quest.Abigail says they used their own research and mathematical formulae to discover if Titanic’s Jack & Rose could have survived the sinking of the historic ship in1912 in the North Atlantic Ocean. “Using maths, we were able to find out if they both could have fit on the door and floated”“We found out if they put both their life jackets under the door they both would have survived”  Abigail Wicks, Christy Zhang and Julia Damato from Adelaide’s Westminster School took out the national competition after winning their section of the state-based MASA Junior Secondary Mathematics Enrichment Project Awards.
