Born in the Bay Area and a California native, Austin and his family moved to Colorado in 2018 to start a new life in the mountains. In the span of three months, his wife had a baby, he started a new job, bought a house, and moved to a new state. He’s a husband and a father of two boys with tons of energy and a love for life. Traveling has been a part of his life since childhood, and has been a passion that he’s been trying to instill in his boys from day one. Austin knows that travel sets the stage for global conversations with kids. Jeanne and her son, Tai, have been learning by living in the world by traveling full-time for over two years. Faced with the need to homeschool, Jeanne got creative and took their life on the road. Amelia is the blogger behind A Winter Escape and the mother of two young boys currently living in Adelaide, South Austalia. She travels with her sons to open their eyes to new cultures and ways of life, to see new things, and to normalize cultural differences. Amelia loves a good Mai Tai and knows what to do if you see a deadly Australian animal.After an extensive career in the tourism industry and with the birth of her first son, she realized she wanted more out of life. In Bambinos Without Borders (the blog), I talk a lot about "being global" and raising our kids to be global. And then it occurred to me that I've never actually talked about what it actually means to be global and to live a global life.So in the debut episode of Bambinos Without Borders (the podcast), I chose to interview Lyla Bashan, one of my close friends and personal heroes. Lyla has so much passion for being a global citizen, she literally wrote the book on it. She inspires ordinary people every day to change the world around them and to pass that love on to their children. I couldn't think of anyone better to explain the concept of being global than Lyla.Lyla Bashan is a foreign service officer and diplomat with the US Agency for International Development (USAID). She is currently serving in Armenia as the Director of USAID’s Sustainable Development Office, covering programs of economic growth, democracy and governance, and health and social reform.
