Kendra extolls the virtues of Korean TV shows named Call it Love while Ken asks, "Is Sideways as good as I think it is?" We would love to lie, and say that's where his neediness ends, but if you've listened before, you know, it's not. Ken dug The Christophers and he's not talking about the stars of House Party and Class Act, although he does love them as well. Kendra introduces Ken to Dave, Dave the Diver. Nice to meet you Dave, Ken says. He can be pleasant when he needs to be.

In other news, Ken has moved and Kendra was moved by a new way of telling a wizard story. The book is called Uprooted by Naomi Novik. Ken watched Velvet Goldmine and explained David Bowie to Kendra. They also talk Conan, Chris Fleming, Hedda Gabler and Snubs. Most of these things they enjoyed at least a little bit. Except snubs. They don’t want no snubs.

Ken and Kendra are back this week, discussing which side the oceans on, which way the light goes, a new show heavily based on an old noir writer (The Lowdown), and the newest book from our oldest fav, Jane Austen (Northanger Abbey). They also discuss two films from the 2010s, that special era when Kendra was in her 20s and Ken was in his 80s. Those films are the dastardly Leap Year and the winning Mistress America, a sweet little gem from Gerwig and Baumbach. Greta rules.

The Kens are back, this time discussing sociopathy in the Sims, the many blessings of cruise control, and a few random movies and shows that they’ve watched recently. This includes Ken’s review of The Bone Temple: good! And Kendra’s review of the anime show, Frieren: wonderful! The connection is as always their friendship, a bond that cannot be broken. Not by man nor deity nor fowl even.

Ken has moved and to celebrate watched a marathon of romance movies including: Love Affair (1939), My Brilliant Career (1979), and The Notebook (2004). Ken had never seen and wrote in his notebook "this is bad". Kendra wants to shame Ken for it, but fears being scorned for not having seen Titanic (or as she called it The Titanic.)Then Kendra and Ken discuss Wuthering Heights, a movie Kendra has been biding her time to discuss because she has a theory and must reveal it! What if this movie is so different because it's narrator is different!

Ken and Kendra discuss the Oscar nominations and then go long on The Testament of Ann Lee. Ken says it’s amazing. He really has a way with words! They also talk Netflix’s latest People We Meet on Vacation, which fails to pass Kendra’s one test: the otherwise likeable lead falling for a horrible man. Move on, sister! Kendra says. But not you, dear listener. You stay put and listen to this lovable nonsense.

There is a lost recording of our original conversation about Marty Supreme (or as Ken calls it Martin Supreme). So we doubled back and tried our best to bring back our original verve for ping pong. Did we accomplish it? Not quite.We talk Marty Supreme and who knows what else. Life is a blur!

Discussing Hamnet 8:15 - 30:43Ken and Kendra share their favorite movies of the year! More specifically, Ken shares his top 10 and Kendra calls him a boring poseur. Then Kendra shares her top 5-ish, because she's a slacker and did not do the assignment. But first, they dive deep into the mysterious tree hole of Hamnet! "Green!" Kendra exclaims. And "Get over it!" she says to those who do not hold her exact opinion. Ken liked Hamnet a lot, but had some issues. Kendra painstakingly pulls apart his arguments and humiliates him for your benefit. Happy New Year, everyone! We'll see you next week!

Kendra and Ken discuss the two absolute hits Mouse Hunt and The Long Goodbye. Two films Kendra did as a marathon for her upcoming YouTube video based on fan requests. Luckily The Long Goodbye is a Ken favorite so he get to say 'I told you it was good.' And Kendra has to admit he was right, and be grateful she has matured enough to watch and enjoy a 70s noir. Times they are a changing. Or as this movie would say THhhHeee LLlllooonnnngggggggg Gooooodbyeeeee.We also try to reexplain the whole point of Two Degrees of Ken (a reason for us to chat every week) and connect Christopher Walken with the Long Goodbye. More degrees needed than you'd think.We will probably do a small special episode next week to discuss Hamnet but audio quality might be bad! How enticing!

Ken and Kendra go toe to toe and add to the legend of their decidedly lukewarm rivalry. So lukewarm in fact, it's a friendship! Kendra does call Ken a hoser for not liking Saltburn. Ken calls Kendra the worst person in the world for not jumping at the chance to see Sentimental Value, Kendra has seen Heated Rivalry, a gay hockey romance tv show that comes to us from you guessed it, Canada, our great neighbors to the north. Ken wonders if this is a real show, or something that Kendra is making up. Kendra talks cooking and Wuthering Heights. Ken talks cookies and crying at great heights (reading the end of Lonesome Dove on a plane)! It's a jam packed show, filled with lots of things, mostly good. Enjoy!

Kendra talks Eternity. She thought it was funny, but feared the lack of the female leads autonomy. She lightly described the plot to a point which some people would define as spoilers. She stops talking about anything spoiler adjacent at 20:25 and just goes into mid century modern.Ken watched Wake Up Dead Man, he told Kendra about the buildings and the actors who did a good job. He didn't get into spoilers because he is polite. They found a really stellar connection with podcast favorite Emma. which led to a big conversation on notable ears.

Kendra is wicked into Oz lore but doesn’t love the latest installment, Wicked for Good. Ken is agnostic, despite having seen the musical on Broadway, thus cementing his status as an Elpha-pal. He hasn’t seeing the first Wicked but will. He also hasn’t the second but won’t. He has seen two more sad movies though, and he sings their glory. Blue Moon, starring Ethan Hawke, directed by Richard Linklater, is a perfect one night chamber piece with Hawke giving an all-time performance. If I had Legs I’d Kick You is Mary Bronstein’s semi-autobiographical black comedy on motherhood in the face of everyday life and the feckless men that just ruin it. Both great! See them!
