Chicago Cubs Baseball and Sexual Assault (EDAT 3)
13/12/2016 Duração: 01h27minThis episode Eric and Caroline Allen head out to a Chicago Cubs baseball game right here at Wrigley Field. Wrigleyville in general can be a pretty scary place to hang out, with beer bottles, vomit, and insults being hurled through raucous crowds. But for all the excitement that comes with trying to get into the game, how much excitement do we get out of it? Caroline and Eric talk about their feelings towards baseball in general, the Cubs, and why it feels like such a long time since baseball has truly been "America's pastime." Of course you can't talk about professional sports without somehow slipping into a discussion about sexual assault and gender politics. We talk about the infamous Brock Turner Stanford rape case and conviction, women in the entertainment industry, and eventually Whitney Houston. We’d love to hear your comments, questions, and suggestions for things to do. Also, be sure to check out Chicago SantaCon 2016 tomorrow, December 10. We’d love to hear your comments, questions, and suggestions for things to do. The Improv Retreat and Standup Comedy vs. Improv (EDAT 1)
06/12/2016 Duração: 01h03minOn this inaugural episode, Eric sets off to The Improv Retreat, an annual summer event in the woods of Wisconsin that's part comedy workshop, part spiritual getaway. Upon returning, Eric and improvisers Thomas Clune and Michael Boothby, as well as sex-positive champion Chris Pent discuss the retreat and its many happenings. This leads to a debate about the fundamental differences between the scripted and solo nature of standup vs. the improvised and communal nature of improv performance. We eventually dig into nuances such as consent in scenes, and of course what may or may not go down in the fabled Gables Up cabin. We'd love to hear your comments, questions, and suggestions for things to do. You can leave a voicemail for the show at (415) 779-6855, or email ericdoesathing@gmail.com To stay up to date on new podcast episodes, reviews, and events, be sure to subscribe in iTunes, and follow the show on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
