Indie Game Ravers

Join us for the end of 2024, as we run down our favourite games from the year. As a slightly bigger episode, we hit a couple of beers each, featuring beers from Deya, The Weekend Project, Attic Brew Co, New Bristol Brewery, Vault City, and Baron Brewing. Originally recorded on 19/12/24.

Aadil and Lucy kick off the episode by discussing a new (ish) web puzzler and blowing Ben’s mind with Minute Cryptic. Lucy has finished and reviews Mouthwashing, and Ben gives his impressions after a few runs of Buckshot Roulette. Everyone’s got a beer this week, with Lucy drinking Vault City’s Double Pump, Aadil’s on the Pinnora X Gravity Well collab Binary Star Collision, and Ben has Verdant’s Big Stupid Hazy. Lucy played “Gestalt: Cinder & Steam”. Ben attempted to play Tron Identity, unsuccessfully. We chat about FIFA: Ultimate Team, and the affects of the lottery mechanic on the series. Ben briefly updates us on “Star Wars: Jedi Survivor”, and we go on to talk about Star War Kinect, amongst other things. Aadil talks about playing Magic: The Gathering, in person with real people on a weekly basis. And they talk about the latest digital Magic announcement of a stand-alone Commander Multiplayer game, as well as the recent rules changes to the game. With only Aadil on the beers this week, Ben and Lucy go deep on a handful of games they’ve been playing. Ben talks about the full release of Songs of Silence having previously covered it in early access, whilst Lucy has finished The Rise of the Golden Idol, and spent time with Touch Type Tale. For the singular beer, Aadil drinks Deya’s We’ll Take It Off The Zombies.

This week Ben continues with his thoughts on Jedi: Survivor whilst Lucy has been playing the new releases, Call of Duty Black Ops 6, and Wilmot Works It Out. Lucy drinks Post Mortum from Barney’s, Aadil has Toxic Juice from Twice Brewed, and Ben drinks Tree Octopus from Weekend Project.

Ben played the start of “Star Wars: Jedi Survivor.”In the rest of the episode Ben covers his experience with Nomada Studio’s latest release “Neva”, with a fair bit of tangeantial chat about their previous game “Gris” which the whole team loved. Aadil had the Koyt Gruit Ale from Jopen.Ben had Pressure Drop’s High Performance Machine DIPA.

The team reunite to chat about a quick beery trip to Manchester, Cryptmaster on PS5, Balatro on Mobile, the Steam Deck and more. This week’s beers are Implosion from ToØl, the Twice Brewed Blue Raspberry Sour, and Drums Please! from Pomona Island.

Aadil returns, and with him tales of beer from far lands. He kicks off the show discussing his time at the Borefts beer festival. Ben wants to talk PlayStation’s State of Play, mostly focusing on the Ghost of Yotei announcement. And Lucy has finished Beyond Shadowgate. Lucy drinks Stoop from Mash Gang, Aadil brought back Anderson’s Sloepy Seconds, and Ben has the Harvest Festbier from Braybrooke Beer Co. Originally recorded on 26th of September.

Ben and Lucy chat about their gaming week, focusing on what they have played. Lucy starts with some Prince of Persia Lost Crown thoughts, then moves onto Minishoot’ Adventures. She has also started Beyond Shadowgate and gives early impressions. Ben reviews the new release Copycat and finishes out the episode with some Frost Punk 2 thoughts. Ben drinks Donzoko Brewing Company’s Fest Bier, whilst Lucy has Fission from Atom Brewing Co.

Lucy finished “Tactical Breach Wizards”, and Ben tried out the “Wilmot Works It Out” demo. Ben also played a bunch of “Fantasy Map Simulator”, “Whispers of the Eyeless”, and “Astro Bot”. He also goes in depth with his time with the newly released “Caravan Sand Witch.” Aadil has Mikeller’s Martson Lager, “Octoberpretzel” and Vault City’s “Stoopid Black Forest Gateau”, a Coconut Cream Smoothie Sour. Lucy has “Delulu”, Mash Gang’s nonalcoholic Tropical IPA and Brid’s Cross Brewing’s Red IPA, “Bolster’s Blood”. Ben has the Left Handed Giant x Queer brewing collab “Throwing Toads”, a Hazy IPA and Arbor’s DIPA “James and the Giant Nectoron”.

Ben is still playing some eFootball, in all its card collecting glory. Lucy finished “Crimson Diamond”, and moved on to “Tactical Breach Wizards”. Lucy has Deya’s “Viva Chelt Vegas” Imperial Stout. Ben has Wiper and True’s peach and lemon iced tea pale ale, “Parasol”. Aadil has the Weekend Project’s “Flower Mountain”, floral NEIPA.

It’s another twofer but this time Lucy is joined by Ben. They take turns giving some mini-reviews of the games they have played. Aadil updates on his latest MTG exploits, in person and on paper no less, along with the ‘fornitification’ of the game. We played some games! Ben played the latest from miHoYo, Zenless Zone Zero. Lucy played Figment 2: Creed Valley. We also touched on the Games Pass price increases, and the Final Fantasy 7 games. Lucy had Palms, an IPA with coconut, a collab between Fuerst Wiacek and Finback. Ben had the Arbor and Chamonix Big Mountain Brewing collab Matt LeBlanc, a French style wheat beer. Aadil had the God Machine Pale Ale from Baron.

Just Lucy and Aadil this week. As is their style, they start with a discussion about Smart TVs, Sony and otherwise, and the ridiculous constraints on being a display they bring with them. Bluetooth toothbrushes are also discussed quelle surprise. They talk Call of Duty, outages, celebrity skins, and the weirdness of branded Roblox minigames/areas, e.g. BBC, IKEA. AI, the automated Amazon Store and the wonders of modern windows computers are also discussed. Lucy had the From the Farm Mixed Fermentation beer collaboration between Burning Sky and Wildflower. While Aadil has a treat given by a friend, the very unique collaboration between Moersleutel and Bådin, Salta Bananers, a Laphroaig Barrel Aged Imperial Stout with Liquorice and Banana.

The crew is back together to have a brief chat about the Bristol Craft Beer Fest, before moving on to their ‘naughty3’ highlights, and Steam Next Fest (again). They also chat about Duck Detective, Banana, and the most recent addition to Ben’s house: A steam deck. Some games that caught our eye and of course the perenial discussion of what the heck this thing is supposed to be, and if it’s worth it. Some minor HALO news and chat occurred too. Ben and his family have been playing some Just Dance. Lucy played the 3D lemmings-like Humanity, while she takes her time with Lorelei and the Laser Eye and Animal Well. Mulitverses is actually out. We haven’t played it but we want to talk about it, and the various WB franchises it could contain. To jump to another established franchise Ben has been playing The Rogue Prince of Persia and discusses the basics of the first 15 minutes. We go deep on POP history and talk turns to another Ubisoft staple, the Tom Clancy TM universe of games (which are connected or multiversal, we don’t know) Lucy drinks Post Mortum from Barney’s Beer.
