Believers walk by faith and not by sight [2 Cor. 5:7]. God knows and determines every one of our days, not any of us, no matter how hard we try. If anyone claims to know the mind of God and understand His works, he is a liar [v.17]. Solomon confesses that it seems like the wicked prosper and the righteous suffer, but as we know, things aren’t always what they seem to be. The truth is that it will be well with the righteous, but it will not be well with the wicked. In Ecc. 8:10 the wicked person’s funeral is a big deal and they are praised in the city. In Is. 57:1 the righteous person’s funeral is unnoticed and they are seemingly forgotten. Though we don’t understand the times & ends of our life & deaths, undoubtedly God has a reason. For those who fear the Lord and go from us into His presence, remember that they are “entering into peace”, “possessing the land”, and “inheriting His holy mountain” like Isaiah 57 says.
