Concern has been expressed over the proposed development of a large, 26 acre oyster farm in Aughinish Bay. Sliogeisc Siar Teoranta had appealed for a foreshore license, needed to develop the fish farm at the location on the border between Clare and Galway. The company did so, following the Department of Agriculture rejection of their application for the aquaculture license in November 2020.
