The cleanup operation continues in Clare today, in the wake of Storm Ashley. At least 247 homes and businesses in the greater Ennis, Drumquin, Ennistymon, Kilrush and Scariff areas remain without power this morning, after gusts of up to 106 kilometres per hour battered the county. ESB crews are working to restore power to those affected, with faults in most areas expected to be dealt with by half past two this afternoon, though some face a longer wait until evening. While all Shannon Airport services operated to schedule yesterday, thirteen flight diversions have been facilitated by the Midwest Airport, seven of those originally due to land at Cork Airport and six due at Dublin. Between 3am on Sunday and 2am this morning, Clare County Council and Clare County Fire Service responded to over 50 different callouts to incidents across the county due to adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Ashley.
