It’s been a week of chaotic headlines so Kevin and PJ waste no time getting stuck in and giving their hot takes on gender reveal parties, sniffing soldiers and old fellas bringing alarm clocks to their local.The lads then turn their attention to the queerest year in the Irish education system; Transition Year. The wait is over girlies and the boys are back and are ready to have a skittybang with season 4. Firstly, there’s a whole lot of catching up to do as the lads have been v busy during the hiatus getting scammed by people on Gumtree and falling in love with every Deliveroo driver to ever ride a bike around Cork City. It’s extremely hot but the lads can’t even open the window in the kitchen whilst recording as their neighbours are being pure noisy. The lads kick things off by discussing Britney’s chaotic Pride address to her friends ‘at the LGBTQ’. Then prompted by the revelation that Spongebob Squarepants is an absorbent and yellow and porous gay icon, they turn their attention to LGBTQ+ representation in tv and film. We all know how obsessed the lads are with their mams and they’re forever going on about them but in honour of Father’s Day the lads turn their attention to their dads. They speak about feeling pure awkward around their dads when they were younger watching matches on tv that they had no interest in, the struggle of having their dads help them with their homework bits and their dads being allies. The lads kick things off by expressing their infatuation with the latest iconic figure to take the gay scene by storm; PJ’s 3 year old niece Tess. Then the lads begin chatting about genetic bits as they were sent DNA kits that they had to spit into and send away but they’re a small bit up to 90 because they didn’t really read the final print so they’re afraid they could be cloned but they also think that could be kind of glam to have gorgey gay clones of themselves. This week the lads have had their first troll and are absolutely revelling in it because they feel like this means that they’ve truly made it. They then discuss the chaotic art of pebble-dashing before turning their attention to the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Because the lads are weak for Lady Gaga’s new bop with Ariana Grande, they turn their attention to fandoms and ask what makes people so obsessed with celebrities. They discuss things they themselves used to be obsessed with it, try and guess the different names for different fandoms and for once and for all try and settle the score on whether I’m Grand Mam fans should be known as girlies or mammies. The theme for this years #mentalhealthawarenessweek is kindness and though the lads are fairly good at being nice to others and being everyone’s biggest hype girlies, sometimes being kind to themselves doesn’t come as easy. To try and get better at this they call on the help of behavioural change specialist and full-time glam bitch Shahroo Izadi (IG: @shahroo_izadi) who is also the author of ‘The Kindness Method’, a book which details a new approach to driving positive change by being more sound to yourself. This week the lads are joined by the star of the hit tv series Normal People; the ride that is Paul Mescal and everyone is up to ninety. They discuss how he is handling his newfound fame and all the attention from the gays and the girlies, get him to read some filthy thirst tweets, chat about living up to the expectations of a character from one of the most adored novel’s of our generation and basically just spend the entire episode fawning over him because he is so fecking lovely. Paul being on the show is proof that if you put something out in the universe and speak about it often enough then it just might come true and the lads are WEAK. It’s Kevin’s birthday this week and all the girlies are invited. PJ fills us in on the surprise virtual party he organised for his bff which featured a talent competition made up of Kevin’s friends, family and a flautist. They then discuss birthdays when they were younger and the lengths they would go to in order to try and secure a spot at the popular parties. They rate the different types of parties they used to attend and express their longing for party bags to make a comeback because they used to be weak for them. Prompted by Trump’s truly chaotic suggestion of injecting disinfectant into the body to help combat Coronavirus (like what the absolute heck?), the lads explore the medium of fake news and how destructive it can be when it gets into the hands of an Irish mammy via Whatsapp. They reflect on rumours that were spread about them when they were growing up as well as admitting to spreading their fair share of rumours for the skit and they couldn’t let the episode go by without giving a mention to the lies told to us by our own mams. Day 356 of quarantine and the lads have nothing going on in their lives so they spend the first 10 minutes of the episode discussing soup.
