TW // deathNature is healing as the lads celebrate their first proper hangover in what feels like forever. And because they were dying all day Sunday the lads thought it was only fitting to choose death as the theme this week. The lads are still on a high from their first episode back and their week was made all the more enjoyable by the talented piano player next door. The joy didn’t last long however as they discovered that J*mes C*rdon would be part of the much anticipated Friends reunion. The theme this week is queer nightlife and the lads talk about the significance of queer spaces for LGBTQ people, their fave gay clubs to frequent and etiquette for cis-hetero people who want in on the fun including a lengthy list of songs you should never under any circumstances request from a DJ at a gay bar. The lads are back with season 5 and they promise it's going to be the biggest skittybang of a season to date. They catch up on what they got up to during their break; Kevin turned 28 and got a 'no junkmail' sign for the letterbox and PJ died his hair green and got a new personality. Then prompted by their iconic new season promo video in which they skydive from a plane at 11,500 feet in the air they talk about other items on their bucket list. The lads decide to finish off the season in the most wholesome way possible by having the iconic duo Nuala and Phil on for the chats and they do not disappoint. The conversation starts off with the mammies talking about their love for the podcast and becoming accidental influencers and how they’d love a few free bits from Lancôme and Dermalogica

January isn’t even over and we’ve already received one of the hottest headlines to ever grace a tabloid paper; ‘PJ Kirby Is Growing The Gruaig’ and of course Kevin doesn’t waste the opportunity to rip the piss out of him for it. And then because the lads are admittedly ‘scraping the barrel’ they open up the episode to questions submitted by listeners. It turns out to be an incredibly candid episode with the boys telling us about some of the major fights they’ve had, stealing granola from landladies and a detailed description of a chaotic anniversary tarpaulin. 2021 is off to a chaotic start and in Kevin’s words has almost felt like a ‘fever dream’. From right-wing terrorists storming The Capitol to white gays sinking a cruise ship in Puerto Vallarta, it seems like 2021 has simply switched wigs with 2020 and the lads can't cope. The theme for this week is beauty and grooming and the boys finally drop that skin-care regime because we know you’ve been gagging to know the secret behind the glow. 2020 is finally over and the lads couldn’t be more obsessed. But what exactly have they learned about themselves in the most chaotic year they’ve ever lived through? The boys start by reflecting on their resolutions from last year which are all laughable really but there is something to be said for Kevin’s prediction that it wasn’t going to be his year. They then recount the most implicitly queer moments of 2020; instances you didn’t know were très gay at first glance, but upon further reflection were actually as gay as a bottle of Super Rush in a young twink's spray-on Topman skinny jeans' pocket or PJ choosing a Prada clutch as his luxury item in a zombie apocalypse. It’s the Christmas special nobody asked for but you’re getting anyway and what better way to spread some festive cheer than with some minimalist metallic nails that PJ got done in a fancy nail gaf in Soho. The lads waste no time and get straight into discussing iconic Christmas movies, gay gifts they wish they’d have had the courage to ask for when they were younger and the origins of Santa Claus, who we learn came from very humble beginnings in the country that is now Turkey but God knows what it was called at the time as PJ only watched snippets of a 15 minute video on Youtube. It’s been an eventful week in the girlie’s gaf with Kevin ordering an antenna for the tv which means he can finally catch up on watching Tipping Point and The Chase, though PJ argues that The Cube is actually superior to both. Then they tackle the theme for this week which is unpopular opinions, prompted by PJ disclosing earlier in the week that he thinks some babies are ugly, a sentiment which Kevin disagrees with vehemently. They share their own unpopular opinions (which results in a fight over the name Finbarr) and give their take on some of the chaotic unpopular opinions sent in by listeners. 2020 has been a year of unexpected events but one thing we never could have predicted was Kevin going viral over a Percy Pig tweet. The lads discuss the pig pandemonium and the hype of last week’s toy show before addressing the theme for this week which is money. In this episode the lads discuss PJ serving a look with his new pearl necklace which has left Dot Cotton off Corrie shaking and also leads them to talk about Harry Styles’ recent Vogue cover. The lads then explore going with your gut and making decisions in an age where we are overwhelmed with options which leads to choice paralysis which is PJ's favourite term ever. Christmas is fast approaching and as the festive season is known as being a period of overindulgence and drinking loads, the lads decide to dedicate an entire episode to alcohol. The Irish have a reputation for being fond of the drink and Kevin and PJ look into this stereotype and discuss whether it applies to them or not. It’s only November but the lads don’t have a whole lot to be looking forward to so they start discussing the Christmas adverts that have already made an appearance on tv screens. They then turn their attention to sport and the relationship LGBTQ+ people have with sport and some of the queer trailblazers who’ve paved the way on the pitch. It’s the first week of the second lockdown but the lads are in flying form as they’re celebrating their fiftieth episode. However, they very nearly didn’t make it this far as we learn from a chaotic voice note which Kevin sent PJ after they released the very first episode. They take a look back at previous episodes and talk about their fave moments from I’m Grand Mam to date and play messages from listeners all over the world sharing why they tune in every week. They then reveal gifts they got for each other to commemorate the occasion. Kevin and PJ are happy to report back that following last weeks brief rendezvous with a ouija board that they haven’t had any further encounters with chaotic spirits. They discuss the closure of the iconic middle aisle in Lidl and Aldi and prompted by a challenge on The Glow Up (which Kevin is obsessed with btw), they explore fears and phobias. From dreading car journeys with their friends’ dads when they were young to having to repeat a supposedly funny story to a randomer, the lads tackle their fears head on. The lads start off by reacting to the news that Pope Francis is a huge fan of the podcast and has decided to back same-sex civil unions - work papa! Then, prompted by an ick thread on twitter, Kevin and PJ give an account of things that give them the ick. Hufflepuff gays you’ve been warned.Then, as it’s Halloween, the lads have chosen crossing-over as the theme for the week and attempt to have a skit with a few spirits by using a Ouija board. Cue chaos. The boys haven’t seen much of each other this week which Kevin thinks is a good thing as absence makes the heart grow fonder and it means they’ve loads of catching up to do. Kevin tells us about a recent traumatic run where he popped the bubble in his Air Max runners and PJ shares an encounter he had with a woman who was pure hungry so he got her a fry up. Then prompted by Fatima looking to retrain in cyber security and Rishi being annoying, the lads turn their attention to the arts and discuss how important it is in our lives. This week the boys start off by revealing the results of the poll they did to see who opens the window before a shower and who opens it afterwards and it’s fair to say Kevin is raging. They also detail a recent fight they had which they had to overcome quite quickly as they were being interviewed by the iconic Miriam O’ Callaghan the next morning. Then to lighten the mood and in an effort to lift the listener’s and their own spirits, the lads read out some anonymous confessions and are left shaking. A local cat has gone missing in the area so Kevin and PJ start off by making an appeal to the public for the misplaced kitty. This leads to the pair uncovering some of their most irrational fears surrounding going missing or being kidnapped. They then turn their attention to iconic duos and for once and for all disclose the full details about how they met and became friends when they were both young closeted twinks with dodgy quiffs. No one could have predicted this year to turn out the way it has, not even Rosemary the psychic from episode 23 knew how chaotic it was going to be. To ensure they’re well equipped to withstand any more extreme occurrences 2020 has to throw at them such as a zombie apocalypse or Mr Brightside reentering the charts, Kevin and PJ take to a tent to test their survival skills.
