Russian author Artem Mosgovoy popped into the ARA Radio studios to talk with Simon about his recently published semi-autobiographical novel, Spring in Siberia. Hendrik Dennemeyer from the Ville de Luxembourg joined Simon and Tracy on the Breakfast Show to talk about the open-air Library initiative (or D'Stad liest) that opens on 16th August. The open-air library in the courtyard of the former Athénée (rue Notre-Dame) invites book lovers, residents and visitors to the capital to sit under the large tree in the centre of the courtyard and read a book, magazine or newspaper in a relaxed atmosphere. Luxembourg’s health minister Paulette Lenert (LSAP) last week presented the Plan National de la Santé Mentale—a national strategy to tackle the mental health problem in the grand duchy. Part of the current blue-red-green coalition agreement of 2018, the project has arrived at the cusp between governments. In the spring of 2023, Luxembourg for the first time participated in an OECD study on the level of financial literacy among the population. Considering the grand duchy’s status as a financial hub, the results were surprising: on average, the country scored 60 out of 100 on financial knowledge, behaviour and attitude, a score that was close to 50 when looking at adults aged 18 to 29. How can a country that has such a prolific financial sector not reflect this in its educational system? What is the danger of this and what solutions exist to solve the issue? Jessica Thyrion, a financial education adviser at the ABBL foundation for financial education, tells us.

Sarah Muller & Alex Gillander of the Center for the Luxembourgish Language (ZLS) joined the Breakfast Show to talk about their mobile exhibition, called ‘Luxembourg language(s)’ and the work that the Luxembourgish Online Dictionary (LOD) team do. The traveling exhibition "Luxembourg language(s)" can currently be found at the New Gallery of the shopping center Belle Etoile, and is an opportunity for all to familiarize themselves with language and languages.The ZLS team is on site every day from 10am to 7pm to guide visitors through the exhibition.
