For this episode, our smiths had to recreate Ben Abbott's favorite blade, the Celtic Ring Knife. They were tasked with using wrought iron and high carbon steel to do a san mai blade. Now this was a truly unique episode! First the competitors had to make traditional Texas Bowie Knives, and the judges had to deliberate for 4 hours to decide who moved to round two. For the second round, the competitors had to recreate the Elgin Pistol, by taking apart their Bowie knives and attaching the blade to a pistol. What a delightfully odd weapon! For this episode, contestants were tasked with using steel wool and powder to create their round one blades, and then finalists had to create Pipe Tomahawks. They needed to be functional as pipes, as well as for inflicting brutal tomahawk damage! And it also featured the first deaf bladesmith on Forged in Fire! For this episode, our 3 smiths had 3 hours to put together a working flintlock mechanism, from a number of unfinished components. Then for the Masterbuild challenge, the finalists had to recreate the Flintlock GRENADE LAUNCHER!! AW HELL YEA! Another weapon we were oblivious to. What a crazy weapon. Ooh yea, what a fun one! First off, three smiths had to recreate the Native American Gunstock War Club. What an inventive and cool design for a weapon. The Master Build Challenge was to recreate a Blunderbuss with a flared muzzle, that could be reloaded during testing. Lot's of fun was had by all. This show has been getting better and better! For this episode, the smiths met at a storage facility and had to scrounge through "Storage units" to find pieces to BUILD THEIR OWN FREAKING FORGES! What the hell, that's nuts! One guy self-eliminated, and then the final two smiths had to recreate the Bardiche, a BADASS perforated axe. Another good and fun episode! For this episode, our 3 Mikes had to create a bayonet that is detachable from a rifle. After stabbing an oil drum with that bayonet, the remaining Mikes had to make the American Flintlock Long Rifle and attach their bayonets to them. The tests were explosive and stabby on this one.
