Sit down, pour a cup of joe and relax. Be at one with the Force as we discuss all the comics from May -- and we mean all of them.Apologies for the length of this show -- it's more than two-and-a-half hours -- but there was a great deal to discuss about the events of (The) Screaming Citadel crossover that's gone through three of its five chapters in its namesake one-shot, Star Wars No. 31 and issue seven of Star Wars: Doctor Aphra.(At this rate, our show discussing August's comics will last three days!)Co-hosts Jeff McGee and Matt Moore also delved into loss and longing, as typified in the events of Star Wars: Poe Dameron 14 and 15. Tears were shed, we won't lie. They also talk about Star Wars: Rogue One No. 2, the film adaptation that continues to shine and the latest installment of A Star Wars Comic, too. We've also got an interview with Chris Ryall, IDW's chief creative officer, who joined us shed some more light on the upcoming Star Wars Adventuresmonthly title coming this fall. April proved a pivotal month for Star Wars comics. From the first issue of Marvel's Rogue One adaptation, which provided some context and details not seen in the film, to the conclusion of  story arcs in Star Wars 30 and Star Wars: Doctor Aphra 6, along with the passing of a beloved member of the Resistance's Black Squadron in Star Wars: Poe Dameron 13, there was plenty of pathos and high adventure to be had.Co-hosts Matt Moore and Jeff McGee were suitably impressed with Star Wars: Darth Maul 3, which continued to build nuanced layer after nuanced layer on a Zabrak who began life seemingly as a throwaway character, but has grown to become one of the Star Wars Saga's most enduring and utterly complex characters. And there's the fourth installment of A Star Wars Comic, the monthly six-page tale by Jim Mello and Alex Ray that continues to attract with thoughtfully written and artfully composed stories. Also featured on this month's episode? The debut of the new Facebook page (hello, 2012!), reminiscing about Star W

March came in like a lion but didn't end like a lamb, at least not in the pages of Marvel's Star Wars comics, that's for certain.Join us we take a deep dive into the latest issues of Star Wars: Darth Maul #2, Star Wars: Poe Dameron #12 and Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #5. We're also looking ahead to Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, too, with details about the Coffee With Kenobi Podcast meet-up, panels that are focused on Star Wars comics along with pertinent details about what you can get from us, cheap as free if you're going to the big event. Our chief question? What will Celebration mean for Marvel's Star Wars comics? We don't know, yet, but one thing's for certain: Don't stop believing. For the second part of this episode, hosts Matt Moore and Jeff McGee talk with Otis Frampton, the comics artist behind the series Oddly Normal who is waging a social media campaign for Marvel to publish his proposed Jawa Adventures comics series that blends both humor and more about the Saga's favorite purveyors of quality dro

  • Comics With Kenobi #28

    07/03/2017 Duração: 02h13min

February was a light month for StarWars yet remained a critical moment for the entire line, with stories in Star Wars: Poe Dameron 11, Star Wars: Doctor Aphra 4 and Star Wars #29 holding true to ongoing storylines that keep pace with expanding the Saga's character development and exploration of events before the events of the prequel trilogies and the original trilogies, along with ahead of events in The Force Awakens. We've also got a special guest this issue, artist Mike Mayhew, whose work on the vaunted one-shot Obi-Wan Kenobi stories in Marvel's flagship StarWars monthly (we dubbed them Obi-Wan Shots) gave readers new insight into not just the last of the Jedi Knights' time on Tatooine, but an edifying and entertaining glimpse into Luke Skywalker, too.Mayhew's work is a dream to behold -- that's not hyperbole -- and he's got a knack for taking characters we all know and love and proffering new views of them, particularly when they're younger -- Luke -- or in middle age just before old age (Hello there, Ben

    07/02/2017 Duração: 01h51min

We're two years in and then some in this grand experiment of Marvel's Star Wars comics. We have to admit, it's been a heck of a run.In this episode, we're talking the releases from January and the first week of February. We interview with comic creators Alex Ray and Jim Mello. The artist and writer from Florida created A Star Wars Comic, a monthly fan-made comic that takes readers -- in just six pages -- deeper into the Star Wars head canon. They join us to discuss the first of what's expected to be a monthly offering, the tale of Benthic Two Tubes, seen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The duo has an amazing history together. If the first issue is any indication, it won't be long until we're reading their tales in the pages of Marvel. From there, Jeff McGee and Matt Moore tackle the latest titles from Marvel. They include Star Wars: Doctor Aphra 3, Star Wars 27 and 28, Star Wars: Poe Dameron

    05/01/2017 Duração: 01h34min

For our last episode of 2016 -- and the first of 2017 -- we dive deep into the four Marvel Star Wars comics that made December so stirring. They featured tales of adventure, intrigue, daring and, yes, heroism in all its forms, subtle and small. We start off with Star Wars: Poe Dameron #9, and are immediately drawn into the role that C-3PO plays. Is he, in fact, a super stealthy agent of espionage? Is that loquacious fretting merely a cover? Meanwhile, in Star Wars #26 (what a story!) we get our first look at a pre-The Phantom Menace Yoda as the series starts a multi-issue arc that draws its inspiration from the journals of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Finally, we embrace with gusto the first two issues of Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, written by Kieron Gillen and drawn by Kev Walker. It bears repeating that this is a milestone debut, given it's the first time a Star Wars character created for the comics is headlining a solo title. We had high hopes. Were they met?You bet.We also talk about the tremendously done fan project Star W

    02/12/2016 Duração: 01h48min

Oh my. So much Star Wars comics from November in this episode. So much we even had to include an issue from December, too, to be sure we got them all.How many? Six. Just like the original trilogy plus the prequel trilogy. But it's worth every audio minute and every single panel on every single page to hear Jeff McGee and Matt Moore get a bit emotional over the conclusion of the deftly written Star Wars: Han Solo mini-series, as well as the adroitly executed eighth of issue of Star Wars: Poe Dameron. Then there's the superb storytelling of the Star Wars Annual #2 and the conclusion of "Last Flight of the Harbinger" in the main Star Wars monthly.Lastly, we conclude the adaptation of The Force Awakens mini-series by diving into issues five and six.

It's finally here. It took three recording sessions, six World Series games (Spoilers: CUBS WIN!), two trans-Atlantic crossings, one move and MULTIPLE cups of coffee, but episode 24 is ready for your listening pleasure. We've got a special guest, too, a certain Coffee With Kenobi co-founder by the name of Dan Zehr who joins us to discuss the riveting concluding issue of Darth Vader #25, along with the intriguing coda that filled out the massive issue. Then it's on to Star Wars: Poe Dameron #7, Star Wars #24 and Star Wars: Han Solo #4 for your co-hosts Matt Moore and Jeff McGee, along with some of the latest news involving Star Wars comics.

  • Comics With Kenobi #23

    11/10/2016 Duração: 01h33min

After a technical snafu delayed Jeff McGee and Matt Moore, the daring duo have roared back into the Dragon Run to give it another go and what a go it was, what with the latest issues of Star Wars, Star Wars: Poe Dameron and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.Besides comics, we break down the latest news out of the just-concluded New York Comic Con. There's also some detail about December's first two issues of the mercurially titled (for now) Star Wars: Classified, along with a fond look at the upcoming conclusion to Star Wars: Darth Vader.

  • Comics With Kenobi #22

    02/09/2016 Duração: 02h10min

Despite technology's best effort to thwart them, Jeff McGee and Matt Moore are back for another issue, diving deep into Marvel's Star Wars comics from September, including Star Wars #22, The Force Awakens #3, Han Solo #3, Poe Dameron #5 and Darth Vader #24.There's some fuzzy sound during the episode -- The First Order tried to jam our broadcast, no doubt -- but it's worth getting through it, given the piercing commentary and observation about September's stories.

  • Comics With Kenobi #21

    05/08/2016 Duração: 01h39min

Find out our thoughts and weigh in with your own as we make the comics equivalent of the Kessel Run through Star Wars #21, Poe Dameron #4, Han Solo #2, The Force Awakens #2 and Darth Vader #23.That's not all, either. We're bringing you up to speed on the latest Marvel Star Wars comics news, too, including what's going on with a third monthly series, what was announced at Star Wars Celebration Europe and San Diego Comic-Con as well as a rather heated discussion about Grand Admiral Thrawn and whether he'd be a great subject for a new mini-series.

  • Comics With Kenobi #20

    01/07/2016 Duração: 02h19min

We're really flying Solo this episode. Seriously. No lie. Why? Because the first issue of Star Wars: Han Solo came out and we read it.Know what else we read? Everything. If it was a Marvel Star Wars comic and it came out in June, Matt Moore and Jeff McGee read it.It's true. All of it.Know what else is true? Jeff and our special guest, Tom Akel, head of content at LINE Corp., apparently went to the same convention years ago and didn't even know it. Small world, eh? Yes it is. But not small enough to contain us as we talked Star Wars, web comics and so much more with Akel whose company, LINE, brought to the U.S. the excellent English-language version of the Original Trilogy with vibrant art and some new story detail that is part of the canonSo, sit back, adjust the volume and listen in and if you agree with our comments and conclusions about the comics we talked about -- Darth Vader, Star Wars, The Force Awakens and Han Solo. If you don't, let us know, too! We're eager to read your thoughts and whys and hows.

    03/06/2016 Duração: 01h33min

We're flying solo for this month's issue. Wait. No, we're not! While Jeff McGee and Matt Moore had expected to have the first issue of Han Solo to discuss, its release was pushed back to later this month. Not to worry, there's plenty to discuss in regard to events in Star Wars #19, Darth Vader #20 and the fifth -- and final -- issue of Obi-wan and Anakin #5 to keep us occupied and in a debating mood.

  • Comics With Kenobi #18

    06/05/2016 Duração: 01h30min

We're back for this month's issue and what a collection of Star Wars comics that Matt Moore and Jeff McGee have to fuss about and discuss! And phone books. Lots of phone books. (OK, not so much the phone books.)But before we do that, our heartfelt thanks to all who cast their votes for us in the literature category in the first Star Wars Podcast Awards. While we didn't win, your listening to our show, interacting with us on Twitter and enjoying the shared experience of talking about Star Wars comics is what keeps us coming back every month, and then some.In the pages of Star Wars #18, the excellent "Rebel Jail" story arc continues amid crackling dialogue and action from Leia, Sana and Aphra.Meanwhile, in Obi-Wan and Anakin #4, the Jedi Master and his padawan each learn a bit more about each other, themselves and their roles in the wider galaxy. In Darth Vader #19, readers are treated, if only briefly, to a glimpse of the man Vader used to be even as we learn his executive recruiting skills are second to none.A

    19/04/2016 Duração: 41min

More than four months after it was supposed to be released, the Star Wars Special: C-3PO one-shot by James Robinson and Tony Harris was finally released on April 13 and Jeff McGee and Matt Moore simply couldn't -- and wouldn't -- wait another two weeks to talk about it. Who could, really? Our verdict? It was worth the wait. Why? Listen to our first -- and not likely last -- one-shot special episode focusing on a special one-shot.

  • Comics With Kenobi #15

    04/03/2016 Duração: 01h16min

Co-hosts Matt Moore and Jeff McGee swing through four issues in this month's outing, including the penultimate issue of our favorite Kanan, as well as back-to-back issues of Darth Vader and, lastly, but not least, the new story arc "Rebel Jail" that begins in the pages of Star Wars 16.We also discuss the big plans Marvel has for the upcoming Star Wars: Poe Dameron monthly that debuts on April 6 in comic shops worldwide, as well as discuss our preference for Mel Brooks' films and so much more.

  • Comics With Kenobi #14

    05/02/2016 Duração: 01h33min

It's been awhile, but not as long as the wait for Episode VIII is going to be.Still, it was worth it, given co-hosts Matt Moore and Jeff McGee dive into the comics released since our last issue back in January. (Has it really been almost a month?) and also examine the final sales estimates for comics in 2015, as compiled by John Jackson Miller at his Comichron website.Kanan, issue #10 (just two more issues to go until it comes to an end) sees Caleb Dume, the Clone Troopers and Master Billaba draw inexorably closer to the showdown with General Grevious and, of course, a resolution on Kaller with the Rebels team that Kanan is leading. The issue, written by Greg Weisman and illustrated by Pepe Larraz also stands out for its introduction of a new character in its pages who also appeared in the current season of the Rebels TV show.Star Wars #15 is a luxurious tapestry, with Jason Aaron scripting another tale of Ben Kenobi on Tatooine, as he watches over the young Luke Skywalker. From here on out, any such story foc

  • Comics With Kenobi #13

    08/01/2016 Duração: 01h35min

After a holiday break -- and a momentous distraction at the cinema -- the Star Wars stories in Marvel's comics are calling to us again and are they ever loud! (Have you felt it?)From the conclusion to the best-selling Vader Down crossover to further exploration of a young Caleb Dume's performance as a padawan in the Clone Wars to finding out what, exactly, happened to that medal Chewbacca got for helping to destroy the Death Star, the most recent batch of comics carries the Saga's undercurrents forward and, co-hosts Jeff McGee and Mat Moore theorize, into The Force Awakens. We also examine the decision to cancel Kanan may mean and ponder what could replace it. Then there's the Star Wars effect on 2015's comic sales that saw four Star Wars comics rank among the top 20-selling books for the year.
