#Jadis says, "It's about life, doctor," two episodes ago, but her semi-quoting #ThomasMann to him early on in the episode (all that's out there is "Death and the dead") is all we need to know, narratively, the seat from which all their motivations derive: Fear. Our protagonists show, in action, all the ways in which Thomas Mann "Wakes up": by living life as if death doesn't exist. So not much pre/post show to speak of, since we recorded both #FearTWD and #WorldBeyond on the same day, but we did edit out chunks and chunks of footage in between for various reasons. What's absolutely fantastic about this episode is the debate and coalescence on the points of view from our fellow hosts. Watching #VictorStrand's slowly disintegrate is changing the way we view him. Seeing #MorganJones break bad concerns even the harshest of his critics. And the return of #AliciaClark leaves us with even more questions prior to her arrival! There were far more setups than resolutions this episode, but it's hard to argue that this episode didn't move the story forward. OH. MAI. GAH! ...the pre-show to this episode is *SO* spicy: I only wished we had been able to start recording sooner (OR THAT OUR HOSTS WOULD HOLD BACK FROM SPILLING THEIR GUTS LONG ENOUGH TO SAVE IT FOR THE ACTUAL SHOW

Getting to the nuts and bolts of this episode involves examining our entire outlook on the kinds of people we end up meeting in #TWDU and admitting that, as much as we hate "weak people", there's a value in having them around so that we may, yet again reach a "Returning Point". Believe it or not, this episode didn't please some of us as it did others. Maybe it's because #AltheaSzewczykPrzygocki isn't everyone's favorite character, so there's a lack of patience when it comes to her wrestling with the gargantuan proposition of living her own life/stepping into the story and on the run versus continuing to be the journalist whose purpose is to partition herself from her subjects in order to adequately capture the story of others. Believe it or not, the more we spoke about it, the better appreciation we had for this episode and the feelings everyone held towards this episode, because #WEAreSQUAWKINGDEAD I can't recommend the unedited episode recording enough, we do quite a bit of pre-show as we psyched ourselves up for a full day of recording (two episodes) while discussing some behind-the-scenes matters that only our supporters currently have access to. #MoCollins drags her character, #SarahRabinowitz, through every of her iterations in this episode and her performance simply left us all with goosebumps! #DemetriusGrosse returns as #EmileLaRoux's vengeful twin brother, #JosiahLaRoux, who (as Dave predicted) isn't quite like his brother: not as interested in bloodshed and more interested in answers and inner-peace. On paper, this episode shouldn't be as phenomenal as it is, but the performers and the score really elevate it to quickly becoming the best episode of the season. Is #ElizabethKublek the enemy we thought she was? Is #Anne / #JadisStokes(?) someone we should worry about? And, for someone who's supposed to be(?) a protagonist, #IrisBennett sure acts a lot like the side she's fighting against (sneaky AND manipulative)! It is really nice to see most of our "family" together and it's nice to see #EltonOrtiz find his place in #TWDUniverse SO MUCH was cut out from the final edit, mostly due to massive technical difficulties mostly. It almost begs the question why we didn't just release this version low-fi and unedited for the sake of coherence! This one kicked us in the feels, then proceeded to kick us, again, while we were down. We're starting to notice some emerging parallels: #MorganJones attempting pulling #GraceMukherjee out of her agony in the last episode, where #JohnDorieSr is (in this episode) attempting to pull #JuneDorie out. Both men having gone through longterm personal turmoil, now finally able to try to pull their counterparts out of their own quagmire. And, of course, #VictorStrand being the one to bring the Dories to safety...

Should our protagonists(?) be thinking locally or globally? Is #SilasPlaskett's allegiance going to be tested? #JenniferMallick is starting to realize that her mother, #ElizabethKublek, might actually be a monster (and that she might be one by proxy). And terrific performance by #NicholasCantu as #EltonOrtiz, this episode! So we definitely cut out a lot of behind the scenes moments from before and definitely after this episode.
