After starting 1-8 and 4-13 the Rays have surprised us by getting over .500 by game 55 so we talk to Rays beat writer Marc Topkin about how they have accomplished it with an unconventional pitching approach, injuries and trades. The Rays are once again back to .500 after a 1-0 win in Oakland in 13 innings on Memorial Day. The Tampa Bay Lightning cleaned out their lockers less than 24 hours after losing Game 7 to the Capitals. They reflected back on what happened to make their 3rd Eastern Conference Final in 4 years but not win the Stanley Cup. The Bolts were the highest scoring team this year but failed to score in nearly the last 8 periods of this series. The Lightning face the Capitals tonight in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals with a berth in the Stanley Cup final on the line as we talk to Tom Jones about the matchup. The Lightning go 21 minutes without a shot on net and still win on the road. The Lightning are dominated once again by the Capitals in a 6-2 loss at Amalie Arena to fall behind 2-0 in the Eastern Conference Final. In contrast to the Boston series, the Lightning are being dominated in 5-on-5 play including giving up a goal on the opening shift on Sunday night.
