The shtick of this megaseries is actually rather simple. By far, one of the most controversial events of the 1990's was the advent of Image Comics. And in the ensuing years it would be safe to say that history has not been kind to 1990's-era Image Comics. In fact, the prevailing sentiment is those comics suck. But do they? So the purpose of this series is to take a look back at a few Image titles from that era and reach a different conclusion. Maybe. Or maybe not. Kicking off the series is the oh-riginal Gen 13 miniseries from 1994, which Tom Panarese assures us was the most important year of the 90's. In any case, how does Gen 13 far in retrospect? Unfinished Business continues! In short, Magnus originally had something else planned for this episode. But, through no fault of anybody's, that ended up not working out so well. Starting this week, Magnus launches the Unfinished Business megaseries! Honestly, how many times have your heard your emperor wrap up an episode with words to the effect of "I don't know when but at some point I'll come back to this"? But invariably next week's episode is about some other subject. It's almost enough to make you think His Excellency has ADD or something. Well, this megaseries is where all that starts getting put right. In this week's ball-cloning episode, Magnus talks about another Star Wars prequel. The last time this subject came up was back in episode #99 which was dedicated to the Phantom Menace. This week, that subject gets revisited as His Excellency turns his gaze to Attack of the Clones. How good is it? How bad is it? And can it be just one or the other? Much ink and many words have beeen spilled over the Star Wars prequels in general and Attack of the Clones in particular. In this week's ball-paralyzing episode, Magnus begins the build up to the end of Smallville's deplorable, dreaded fourth season retrospective by talking about Recruit, Krypto, Sacred and Lucy. Those of you looking for some sort of comfort or good news in all the pain, suffering, misery and torment that is the dreaded fourth season are out of luck. Mostly. Honestly, this is a pretty difficult episode to hype up because there's so little positive to say about this stretch of episodes. In the plus column though, anybody who thinks His Excellency is a blind devotee to all things Smallville will quickly see the error of their ways after listening to this episode. There's a lot to be said for unbiased objectivity, right? Still, there are some interesting character tidbits going on here. You have to dig deep to find them sometimes. But they're there.
