Now it might seem obvious – or not – that this is a VERY important topic, given that the consequences of poor decisions can be disastrous. So, strap yourself in and enjoy our discussion about making outstanding decisions! • 100NO 482: How Pets Improve Longevity with Emily Martin

    19/06/2022 Duração: 19min

More and more research today is showing just how effective having a pet is for a longer and healthier life. But at the same time, the longevity of pets themselves is under threat, as more and more pets are being euthanised each year for incontinence. Enter Emily Martin, Queensland’s young entrepreneur of the year and founder of Dundies. With 200,000 pets being euthanised each year, this episode has a two-fold purpose. Firstly, don’t underestimate the power of pet ownership as a key factor for longevity. And secondly, look outside the box when it comes to prolonging and improving your pet’s quality of life. To find out more about Dundies, Emily’s story and their range of products, go to www.dundies.com.au or find them on the socials. • 100NO 481: Are we eating too much protein?

    12/06/2022 Duração: 25min

Marcus has been listening to a number of podcasts featuring Dr Zach Bush, and one in particular was around the consumption of protein. As a former vegan, the protein conversation has always been there. On this episode Marcus grills Damian (see the pun there?) on all things protein – do we eat too much of it? What clues do our daily diets provide us with (Marcus shares his daily diet and asks Damo about protein intake)? And more importantly, what do we do if we are having too much protein? What impact does water intake and portion size have on protein consumption? So many questions! And Damian Kristof provides all the answers on this meaty topic! • 100NO 480: Stress v The Perfect Diet & Longevity

    05/06/2022 Duração: 28min

We’re in an ongoing conversation and pondering the role good food and stress plays in our efforts to age gracefully. There’s no doubt that a great diet becomes even more important as we age, because a poor diet contributes so heavily to chronic disease. Over a third of all cancers and diabetes are a direct result of obesity. And in the spirit of personal accountability, obesity is within our control. But just how strict or fixed do we need to be? And what if our diet is causing bucketloads of stress? Again, this is a conversation we could have for a very long time. But today, we give it a good belting for half an hour in an effort to bring more clarity to your approach to food and the rest of your life. • 100NO 479: Are you living your best life or dying slowly?

    29/05/2022 Duração: 30min

It’s another curly question on today’s podcast. Damo’s asked Marcus recently if he would live or die for his children. It may have been misinterpreted, but Marcus said he would absolutely die for his children! And then Damo said he would absolutely live for Jackson … and then the whole meaning of the question sunk in. So many of us live mediocre existences that we forget our children – or others – are watching. It doesn’t have to be for children – you might be LIVING your best life and as a result fall in love with an incredible human being. More than anything, this episode challenges us all to ask the question – are we living our best live? • 100NO 478: Stereotypes and coffee

    22/05/2022 Duração: 24min

Marcus has had an interesting time in Sydney where his choice of milk with his coffee was heavily scrutinized by the barrista. Have our dietary choices created more segregation, or are we on the right track? • 100NO 477: Mastering Tough Conversations

    15/05/2022 Duração: 27min

Marcus has just driven to Sydney and spent the morning listening to former guest Charlie Arnott have some tough conversations with his guests on his own podcast, The Regenerative Journey. Marcus and Damo then talk about their own tough conversations they’ve had with each other, and why it’s so important to not sweep things under the carpet, particularly with people that we love. At the same time, tough conversations can bring us to a deeper level of understanding of ourselves, others and the wider world, only when we are prepared to have – and listen to – tough conversations. • 100NO 476: Mastering The Art of Slow

    08/05/2022 Duração: 24min

Does it feel to you like the fast-paced life of pre COVID days has quickly returned? We both reckon the pace of life – the longer work hours, the busy-ness, the bad habits, etc – are back with a vengeance, and it’s time to slow down. We share our own experiences with this as well as our daily habits in order to create slow. Easier said than done, but we reckon you will be able to relate! Enjoy the episode

  • 100NO 475: So … How do we live our lives again?

    01/05/2022 Duração: 20min

Damian and Marcus both feel that longevity, life design, and all things planning are becoming a lot easier than they were 6 months ago. You can now plan a holiday (particularly in Australia) with a high degree of confidence that it will go ahead. You can also begin to plan out wellness habits, social gatherings, and more. With all of this new found certainty, how do we design and craft our lives going forward? Are we nervous that we’ll be bundled back into lockdowns? Are we like caged animals, soaking in every ounce of pleasure we can before an inevitable hurdle comes our way? COVID has really got us questioning how to live our lives, and this episode is all about that! Thanks to Sam Wood and the team at The Wood Life podcast for their permission to reproduce this conversation between Damian Kristof and Sam Wood on The Wood Life podcast.  Your chronological age may be increasing every year, but that doesn’t mean that your biological age can’t stay the same… or perhaps even go backwards! Damian Kristof joins Sam Wood to share his knowledge around longevity, and how YOU can master the art of ageing well. And it’s simpler than you might think. Sam also gives his tips on getting back on track when something unexpected throws you off course. • 100NO 471: The secret sauce to fulfilling relationships

    03/04/2022 Duração: 20min

Imagine if your partner loved your hobby. It doesn’t happen often in relationships, but it does stimulate the conversation about creating – and identifying – hobbies that we enjoy with our loved ones. Quality time is something that we all love – some more than others. But that doesn’t mean that every married couple wants to play golf together, or that every parent and child wants to go to the football or go shopping. Taking the time to understand what the other person wants, and taking the time to discuss what you BOTH might like … is just a part of the secret sauce of living the 100 Not Out Lifestyle. 27/03/2022 Duração: 25min

  • 100NO 469: How to stay healthy as you get older

    20/03/2022 Duração: 22min

Marcus is wondering how Damo continues to have high standards for his physical health as he gets older. The majority of humanity slowly give up on their physical health standards as they get older, losing muscular strength, becoming obese (through a lowered muscle to fat ratio), and all in all, losing the spark and vitality that they once had. As we get older, certain things become more difficult. We can’t run as fast, or bend down as easily. But that doesn’t mean they’re not important, or shouldn’t be done. As Damo reflects on how he is healthier and stronger today than when 100 Not Out first begin, a big part of his insight is around peer group. • 100NO 468: Floods, Wars & NINE Years of 100 Not Out!

    13/03/2022 Duração: 25min

It’s hard to believe, but we are officially nine years of age here at 100 Not Out! And what a week it’s been! Marcus’s home town of Mullumbimby has been ravaged by the floods, a war is erupting in the northern hemisphere, and an icon of Australian society in Shane Warne died unexpectedly. As random and disconnected as those three events seem to be, there’s some burning longevity lessons and questions in these three events. What’s more important to you – quality or quantity of life? How much do you love where you live? And how grateful are you to be living in a country like Australia? These are just of the chats we have on our ninth birthday of 100 Not Out! This week’s featured image is of Marcus’ daughter Maya helping in the cleanup efforts the day after the floods cleared in Mullumbimby. • 100NO 467: The Almost NINE Year Anniversary Episode

    06/03/2022 Duração: 23min

100 Not Out is about to turn nine years young! Next week, episode 468, marks our ninth year podcasting on the principles of longevity, and we are quite chuffed to still be here, with so much petrol in the tank with what we fill, is a very important message to share. On this episode we share just some of what we’ve learned so far, and what we think we will see in longevity over the coming years. And to everyone who has asked about Marcus and his safety during the floods, all is well – our family is safe and our house is unaffected. We are now doing all we can to support our local community. • 100NO 466: Ageism is rife towards ourselves and others

    27/02/2022 Duração: 22min

A recent conversation Marcus had with a friend regarding the age and function of his phone has stimulated a conversation on how we perceive our own hardware and software and ability to function as human beings. Are we telling ourselves “I’m too old to do X” as a result of what others have told us? Are our beliefs about getting older accurate? Do we too quickly jump to “never again” when we experience a setback? We discuss these questions and more on the “almost” 9th birthday episode of 100 Not Out.
