Today marks the start of Global Week at The University of Pennsylvania. The aim is to enlighten the Penn community about how they can engage with the world here on campus and by going abroad. As part of the festivities, Career Services will host our annual Global Career Fair on Thursday, featuring employers hiring for full time and summer internship positions around the world! In this episode of CS Radio, Michael and Mylène look at the various other resources Career Services offers to students and alumni looking to work abroad, as well as reviewing some general tips for an international job search. Say how do you do and shake hands! Last week, we were thrilled to announce to the campus that University of Pennsylvania Career Services will be moving to the Handshake platform this summer. Michael and Mylène are joined by Handshake’s Director of University Growth, David Shull, who gives some insight into Handshake’s story and philosophy and shares a preview of what students and alumni can expect when the system goes live on June 1st. Plus, the semester may be coming to a close, but there’s still events on our calendar, so we’ll give you the usual run down. This is our second season finale. The countdown to spring break has begun! It’s hard to believe, but that means summer is just around the corner! Have you been considering accepting a summer opportunity but are reluctant because it is low or no paying? For the third year, Career Services is proud to be able to offer assistance via our Summer Funding Grant. This week, Michael and Mylène talk about how you can apply and review what opportunites students pursued with their funding last summer. Love is in the air! This week, we focus on careers right here at the University of Pennsylvania. Penn loves to hire alumni, and right now there’s a big push to hire new graduates! Happy new year! We’re back after the long winter break, but Michael flies solo this week as Mylène does her civic duty on a jury! This week, in anticipation of the upcoming Creative Careers Fair, Michael “flashes back” to a year ago, when we interviewed two amazing students with equally amazing stories about their internships in the entertainment industry and their pursuit of post-grad careers in the field. It’s our fall finale! It’s the last day of classes at Penn and we’re here with one last episode for 2016. Mylène and Michael are joined by Dr. Joseph Barber, Associate Director on the graduate students team. Joseph talks about the ways that grad students can use their break not only to step away from their work, but prep for the spring semester and their job search. Are you planning (or just considering) going to medical or dental school after graduation? The process is long and there a lot of steps, and every institution handles the application process slightly differently. This week, Michael and Mylène speak with Caroline Wilkey from Penn’s pre-health advising team, who gives us an overview of our process and introduces us to the Health Professions Advisory Board (HPAB).
