Highlander Rewatched

In their first ever bonus episode, the Rewatchers revisit the best and worst episodes from season one, rate the best guests and villains, rank the cops, count up Mac's quickenings, and discuss their high hopes for season two.

In the season 1 finale, when a mysterious group of mortal nerds hunts down immortals, Pirate Duncan must team up with his old friend Fitz to track them down. The Rewatchers hear a who, discuss the moral implications of the prize, and discuss the impact of Darius on the world of Highlander.

It’s Home Alone, Highlander Edition! When a diplomat’s son assaults the stepdaughter of an immortal, Duncan must set a series of absurd traps to defend the little jerk from an army of mercenary goons. The Rewatchers discuss a useless flashback, celebrate Richie’s “Big Star” jacket, and consider Duncan’s return to killing mortals.

Duncan must prevent an immortal with religious delusions from killing call girls in Paris. The Rewatchers try to figure out holy ground, marvel at Duncan's hacking skills, and, for the first time in a while, disagree on episode quality.

When Richie lights an immortal jewel thief on fire, Duncan must confront his old friend to save Richie's life. The Rewatchers enjoy some sea food, count up Richie's felonies, and discuss some awesome flash backs.

Duncan reconnects with an immortal healer from his past and must rescue her from her slave-driving ex boyfriend. The Rewatchers get sick of the song Amazing Grace, celebrate the return of Inspector Q-tip, and enjoy some fun dialogue from D-D-Darius.

Duncan must stop an "over washed" opera star who holds sway over a giant, music loving immortal. The Rewatchers perform the worst song ever, discuss some amazing costumes, and enjoy one of the best sword fights in the series so far.

After a fine young cannibal robs a jewelry store using deadly nerve gas, Duncan drives the immortal robber crazy by foiling his plan to gas Tessa's art show... And by chopping off his hand. The Rewatchers untangle Darius's religious beliefs, discuss the role of dismemberment in the game, and are grossed out by Richie and Tessa's relationship.

After a group of killer mimes terrorize Paris, Duncan must stay one step ahead of the police and an immortal assassin. The Rewatchers discuss Richie's taste in art, try to figure out why Tessa likes Duncan, and drop some serious absinthe knowledge.

After Duncan's mentor Darius is threatened by a powerful ancient immortal, Duncan musters the power of hope and training montages to bring down a superior foe. The Rewatchers discuss the moral effect of a quickening, Mac's role in the Napoleonic War, and the unceremonious send off of Rando McFarland.

When Tessa witnesses the immortal police chief of Seacouver throw a fellow artist off a bridge, Tessa must solve the case and stay one step ahead of the killer. The Rewatchers criticize Tessa's bogus art, discuss the best immortal job, and try to figure out the villain's circuitous plan.

Duncan thought he stopped the immortal Seacouver Scalper back in the 1920's---but when a copycat terrorizes the city, the gang concocts a harebrained scheme to bring the killer to justice. In this episode, the Rewatchers turn on their Predator Vision, take a trip to Municipal Stadium, and get a free lesson about motorcycles.

When Duncan receives a visit from femme fatale Rebecca Lord (played by pop star Vanity), Duncan sees the hand of his old immortal enemy Walter Reinhardt. The Rewatchers rag on Tessa's spray painted artwork, discuss Richie's future as a car salesman, and unpack the role of cops in the Highlander universe.

After Richie's old friend Nikki, and her three year-old daughter, get caught up with an immortal coke dealer, Duncan must confront his old communist rival Alexi while Tessa confronts her feelings of motherhood. The Rewatchers see Richie go berserk, receive an immortal PSA, and try to figure out where the heck Seacouver is.

When a sadistic surgeon (played by Joe Pantoliano, known for the Matrix and Memento) witnesses Duncan's immortal healing factor, Duncan must use the magic of computers to escape the mad doctor's clutches. The Rewatchers get a free opera lesson, make a software upgrade, and fire the world's worst receptionist.

When Tess is kidnapped by Caleb Cole, an amorous backwoodsman (played by Marc Singer of Beastmaster fame), Duncan must get in touch with his wild side to track Caleb through the Great North Woods. The Rewatchers discuss Richie's hatred of nature, enjoy the episode's soundtrack, and marvel at Beastmaster's incredible southern accent.

When a group of evil painters takeover Seacouver's courthouse—with Richie and Tess inside—Duncan must do his best John McClane impression and save the day. The Rewatchers uncork this bottle episode, wonder if there is any truth to Duncan's fairy tale, and try to figure out why half the characters in this episode even exist.

Joan Jett pretends to be a fledgling immortal in order to infiltrate Duncan's life and seduce Richie... It's gross. The Rewatchers unpack Joan Jett's plan, discuss the episode's music selection, and try to forget Richie's make out sounds.

When one of Duncan’s immortal friends is killed, and a passing veteran with PTSD is blamed, Duncan infiltrates a town of hillbillies to get answers. The Rewatchers wonder if this episode was based on Rambo, piece together why Duncan’s friend was killed at all, and take a crack at rewriting the episode.
