There are approximately 1,341 spaces on the Dooradoyle campus, while staff can also avail of three dedicated park and ride hubs. HSE MidWest has also confirmed that it's proposal to build a new multi-storey car park at UHL will be subject to funding becoming available. MidWest Hospital Campaign Founder Hilary Tonge says an urgent commitment is needed, particularly due to the ongoing expansion of the site.

Clare TD Warns Of "Serious Setback" If Modular Wastewater Treatment Bogged Down In Bureaucracy
08/12/2025 Duração: 04minA Clare TD fears communities in dire need of housing could be dealt a "serious setback" if a proposal to speed up construction becomes bogged down in bureaucracy. Bodyke Fine Gael Deputy Joe Cooney is urging the Government and Uisce Éireann not to create a "technical jungle" when establishing planning guidance for a new scheme involving modular wastewater treatment systems. The scheme, which was proposed by Deputy Cooney in June, will see developers use modular units in areas where wastewater treatment plants are at capacity to facilitate housing delivery. He says excessive red tape must be avoided to ensure the practice is adopted in 2026.

Dáil Hears Clare Families Still Locked Out Of Defective Blocks Redress Scheme
06/12/2025 Duração: 02minThe Dáil has heard that Clare families living in dwellings built with defective concrete blocks fear their house will collapse whenever a weather warning is issued. It comes as the Government has published new proposed legislation containing a number of policy changes regarding grants for homeowners affected by defective construction materials. A key aspect of the new legislation is that homeowners who received a grant determination before October 23rd 2024 and have incurred eligible building costs since March 29th 2024 can seek an increased grant. Addressing the Housing Minister in the Dáil, Shannon Sinn Féin TD Donna McGettigan says at least 25 Clare households are still locked out of the scheme.

Clare Bucks National Trend With November Car Sales Spike
06/12/2025 Duração: 01minClare saw an increase in its car sales figures last month despite a significant drop being recorded across the country. Data from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry shows 11 new vehicles were sold in the county last month compared to four at the same time in 2024. The number of new registration vehicles sold nationwide in November was down 25% on the same month last year meanwhile despite the overall figure for the first 11 months of 2025 being above the number sold in all of 2024. SIMI Director General Brian Cooke says the news is ultimately positive for Ireland's car market.

Over 12,000 Clare People Have Attended UHG Emergency Department In Three Years
05/12/2025 Duração: 04minOver 12,000 Clare people have attended the emergency department at University Hospital Galway in the last three years. New figures released by HSE Mid West to Mayor of Ennis, Fine Gael Councillor Mary Howard, show a total of 12,516 people with Clare addresses presented at the ED in Galway from the beginning of 2023 to the end of October of this year. The data also reveals that 3,436 Clare residents have travelled to the facility this year alone. Councillor Howard has been telling Clare FM's Seán Lyons people should be able to access treatment closer to home.

West Clare Nurse Calls For National Haemochromatosis Strategy

Haemochromatosis, also known as “iron overload disorder,” can cause serious health problems if left untreated, including liver damage, heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis. However, early diagnosis through a simple blood test can prevent these complications and greatly improve quality of life. Ireland has one of the highest rates of haemochromatosis in the world. Orange Campaign In Clare
05/12/2025 Duração: 12minSoroptimist International is running the Orange the World Campaign, part of a UN initiative to raise awareness about gender-based violence. Sadly, Clare is not immune to this issue. According to Women’s Aid, over 269 women have been killed violently in Ireland since 1996, most at the hands of a current or former partner. As part of the campaign, stores across Ennis are displaying orange shoes in their windows to highlight violence against women and to remember those who have lost their lives. On Friday's Morning Focus, Alan Morrissey spoke with Rosalie Byrne-Muir and Dr Gwen Flynn, Ennis and District Soroptimist Club live in-studio.
