"Ennis ED Only Solution" As Over 24,000 Ambulance Patients Brought To Limerick Last Year
27/03/2025 Duração: 07minIt's claimed the number of patients transferred to University Hospital Limerick by ambulance last year has proved beyond all doubt that a new Emergency Department is needed in Clare. New HSE figures have revealed that over 24,000 services were brought to UHL by ambulance throughout 2024. Approximately 32,900 calls were made to the National Ambulance Services from residents in Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary last year. 75% of those required admission to University Hospital Limerick, bringing an additional 24,580 patients through its doors. In the same timeframe it's estimated that approximately 21,800 Clare patients attended Limerick's Emergency Department. HSE Regional Health Forum West member and Ennis Fine Gael Councillor Mary Howard says its clear that diverting some Clare patients to the closest hospital where possible or building a new facility here would relieve serious pressure.

Clare TD Says Damage Done To Reputation Of Ceann Comhairle's Office
26/03/2025 Duração: 04minClare's Sinn Féin TD claims damage has been done to the reputation of the Ceann Comhairle's Office after the Government rammed through a vote on Dáil speaking rights. Opposition leaders are questioning the legitimacy of the vote and will today tell Deputy Verona Murphy they have no confidence in her after the Wexford TD used her powers to skip over the business of the day. The proposal means regional independents would be considered as "others" and they along with over 50 backbench TDs would get additional speaking slots, however the weekly time for Taoiseach's questions would be halved. Shannon Sinn Féin Deputy Donna McGettigan says it flies in the face of democracy.
