We start off season 3 with a trek across the frozen tundra of North Bellasaira. For the next few episodes we'll take a close look at each character's perspective on the journey. First up, we have Chime North, eager to take advantage of his perceived freedom. But he still has a lot to learn apparently. More crazy details are revealed, but that doesn't shed too much more light on the nature of this horrific mystery. Who knew that a chat with your friendly neighborhood TV repairman could land you back in the hospital. In this commentary episode, we put a bow on this enjoyable second season of the campaign. The characters head into uncharted territory, and so does the podcast; as we talk about planning for a 3rd season in this story. The setting will be quite different, and it sounds like the mode of story telling might take a new form or two as well. We are excited about where season 2 left off, and for what season 3 will bring. When the investigation goes awry, all the usual places one would go to for help don't yield and beneficial results. Neighbors are reluctant to get involved, the hospital is dragging its feet, and the cops aren't taking the report seriously. But who could blame them when the details are told by a fiction writer. Here is the season 2 finale! In this action-packed episode, the group sets into motion a plan that will really shake up the city. As they escape, they are trading one set of uncertainties for another. What will become of Healing Hands, the Council, and Consiglio; are no longer important questions. They must now address how they will survive the frozen tundra outside the dome. Bundle up, it looks like season 3 of Elements of War will be quite chilling. The story begins as the characters' common associate gathers them together to investigate a mysterious delivery. Jordan confesses that the mystery is based on a actual real life event. Of course, there is more horror to come than what was in the actual news report. A narrow escape and a quick trip back to the hideout... but not for long. Everyone agrees, staying in the city is no longer an option with another council member dead. They hatch a plan that will ensure their escape and most certainly turn the entire city on it's ear. Jordan picks up a new one-shot via a Kickstarter for us to play, Cthulhu Dark. This fits our gravitation toward our usual dark and spooky stories. The group squares off with another council member. This time a couple of our characters are in grave danger. This crazy scene is all topsy-turvy, for even our dice rolls, as a character with the best of intentions misses with an epic roll, but the unassuming character with ulterior motives seems to save the day (for now) with a less than stellar roll. But we see through a couple of flashback scenes, that it's that hidden agenda that shows of a greater conflict to come. The group tries to get some inside info on the Fire Drakes and The Council, but the clandestine meeting goes sideways and it seems they might have bitten off more than they can chew. One thing is certain, life in Consiglio as they know it is coming to an end. It's gonna take the superior technical knowledge and the ingenuitive quick wit of the entire crew if they wish to bring the story to a close in this episode. One thing is for sure, their plan could cause lasting cosmic repercussions for the entire planet. But that's a risk you take in letting the dangerous one come up with the plan. In this commentary episode, we discuss some of the looming implications of the on the spot roleplaying choices we have made. Not only do those decisions affect the story, but also how we play the game. We also spend some time describing how our style of play may differ from most roleplaying encounters. It's "collaborative storytelling" where everyone is in the driver's seat and the GM is just "the director in this sham play"... and we love it. In this episode, you can really tell that we thoroughly enjoyed this part of the story as the pop-culture references were quite abundant. The crew takes the entire ship into the mysterious hole in the ground and ultimately find a little more than they bargained for. In a surprising turn of events, an elemental seems to be looking out for the welfare of the group... for now at least. With the information they have gathered Sam has a plan to try and infiltrate The Council. The "Away Team" finds that the planet is much different than when they were there previously; particularly in it's population. Felix and the doctor work frantically on the ship's "goo crisis", and try to restore everything to working order for the crew's newly formed dangerous plan. A lot is revealed in this episode, about bout elementals and androids. It appears that some character's theories are correct. But even with all this info coming out, there is still quite a bit of confusion and dissension, especially when secret is revealed that puts everyone's lives in danger. For this one-shot series, we enlist an All-star cast (just because we all have J names) for a fun, one-page RPG; Lasers & Feelings. Character creation goes pretty quickly in this game, then we get right into the story, full of mystery and adventure on an alien planet. Here is another commentary episode where we take a look at some of the methods we use for this form of collaborative storytelling, and come to the realization that both GM and players come to the table with "plans" that often get altered before they come to fruition. But still each character (and even a couple NPCs) have their distinct arc that is woven into the overall story... and we always seem to be on the edge of our seats so far. In the final scenes, the heroes are inspired to come together by the most unlikely of characters. And then in the aftermath, most characters surprisingly get a good outcome. But in Fiasco, a good outcome often means just going back to the devil you know.
