Since we really love world-building during our Bone Throwers Theater sessions, we had a lot of fun kicking off this one-shot, brainstorming on what types of characters and threats we would face in our kingdom. We also decided to define our kingdom as a touring band... in space. The remaining party starts a mad scramble up to the top of the Council building, but it won't be an unhindered attempt. Meanwhile, Jerr Lan faces a challenge of his own, a showdown with 2 Council members and a sought after elemental, and his use of power certainly does not disappoint. We wrap up this one-shot with a quick commentary on the story, its intricacies, and some of the hints the players either picked up on or missed entirely in the session. Yes, with only a few episodes left in this 4 season campaign, we still love world building, postulating the origins of North Bellasaira. There were a lot of twists and turns in this episode leading up to the big showdown with May... or is it spelled Mei, as on player speculates? Magic, gunfire, explosions, and of course a double cross stir things up. But even as the dust just begins to settle, the players discover one final twist in this mission. The heist reveals itself to be more than what was initially thought. Kiddnapping... Rescue Mission? In the race through the sewers to reach Sam, a new threat... or ally... (who knows) is discovered. As if infiltrating the city center wasn't hard enough. Jordan seems to be throwing up flares to distract the characters from their main objective. And one discovery in particular is quite compelling. A scramble up the stairs, picking up memories along the way, and leaving stun grenades behind. We learn a name, a hidden ability, and hints of what they are in there to steal. But the search is definitely causing some friction in the group. In this commentary episode, we talk about the longevity of this campaign and joke about new things we could throw in to the mix. Escape from a lab, a long dark hallway, disappearing dwarves, a room full of body bags, an armory raid, and approaching footsteps... With a fearless duo reunited, they square off against a Council Member. Elemental powers fly around everywhere, and it appears that the end is near for one character. Luckily, there is a way that the rest of the group can connect from afar. But will they be lucky enough to reach them in time? The adventure begins mid-mission. But none of the characters have any clue of where they are, how they got there, or what they can do, let alone what they are actually supposed to do. Just as they start to make some head-way, gaining vital info and an objective, one character makes a poor choice and things are bound to get ugly. It seems as though the group was a bit more separated than originally thought. An unlikely duo attempts to team up for a daring rescue... of themselves. Confused yet? We play some musical chairs for this one-shot and switch seats. Jeremy ends up in the driver's seat as the GM for one of his favorite systems, Shadowrun. Well, this Space Station adventure definitely had an unexpected and controversial ending. So much so that we rolled right into commentary on the system, and how much our preconceived notions on science fiction influenced our decision making.
