In this commentary session, we sort through the rubble that is the aftermath of the past few episodes. We talk about how the darkness of the world we had been alluding to has finally come to fruition. The players also realize they have hit a stride with their characters, and because of this their plans and the GM's sometimes get thrown out the window. Well, no job is as simple as it seems for Zorii Bliss and her crew. Two unlikely characters were selected to negotiate for payment, and it wouldn't be Nal Hutta without a dark ally shootout, or some sketchy gambling. Since most of us have a love for all things Star Wars, including the roleplaying game, we decided to have some fun after we all saw The Rise of Skywalker. We'll be playing along side the timeline of the latest trilogy, and our characters are actually inspired by The Rise of Skywalker. If for some reason, you haven't seen the movie by now, there will be spoilers throughout this one-shot, as well as many Star Wars tropes and one-liners. Sinister plans are disclosed in the midst of a chilling family affair. The rest of the party hits the streets, or under the streets rather, to investigate and track down a kidnapper that has multiple families all mixed up. Love abounds in this episode, and so does self-loathing, which brings us to the endgame; an epic battle to the death between master and minion. We'll also see how the story has shaped each character's epilogue... some heroic, and some tragic. Which minion will become the new master, and who will be left to serve... if any? As the party meets up to exchange info and compare notes, things don't get off on the right foot. A couple characters end up at odds and trust doesn't seem it will come easily, while another character is abducted on the streets of Consiglio. The beatings continue, but morale does not improve... the story does however. There is a new horrific revelation about the master's faces, forcing one character the be on the run, not for his life (just yet), but definitely for his love's life. In this commentary session, we talk about how the dark literature inspirations we used to create this world continues to drive the campaign in dark directions. We also note the connections with some well known tropes and some real world inspirations. Corrupt governments bent on controlling it's citizens, clandestine groups plotting to replace the status quo with something "better" at any cost, and Jordan sums up what these inspirations have created... "An exploration of the worst side of humanity." Aaron joins the party with his character Hector, and each character also gains one additional love interest. The characters are sent out to work together but end up working against each other sparking a very interesting aspect of this game... The Horror Revealed. Any it is horrific indeed. The lines of communication are tapped and the characters are more satisfied with the flow of information. The pump is primed for the group to meet up and put some puzzle pieces together... but they might not like the picture they are revealing. The characters are sent out by the master to accomplish specific tasks. They thought they were successful, but that was their first mistake... the thought. They learn the hard way that any deviation in plans will result in deviant consequences. It appears that the paranoia is not all unwarranted, as there is an unexpected attack. So we get our first look at the combat mechanics in the Open D6 System. We also stay true to our form and drop a horrific twist at the end of the episode. In this first play episode of the game, we get our feet wet learning how this system works, and there is much ado about the desire of a potato. Gregor and Yuri show us that it is near impossible to please the master. But even if you do, the rewards are just as horrific as the punishments. Clandestine train station meetings, cryptic and misleading phone conversations, paranoia of being a sitting duck while helpless in the hospital... we hit a myriad of mystery tropes, but the story is heating up as the threat seems to be more complex than anticipated.  And at the end even the unassumingly innocent reveal something horrifically magical. For episode 200 we invite a special guest and original cast member, Carlin, back to the table. We fittingly decided to play a game all about how a master torments his minions. You'd think we'd be used to it by now after 200 episodes under Jordan's rule as GM, but we'll see if he step's up his game. We play out the final 2 scenes and put a bow on this fiasco. The zombies play a huge role in the conclusion and aftermath. And in true fiasco fashion, there are tragic and unexpected endings.
