In our latest episode Sena and Garrett chat with Jon, volunteer with Capital City Circles Initiative, and Maria, graduate of the CCCI program. Maria shares the story of her journey in overcoming major adversity in her life to becoming a successful, contributing member of her community. Jon shares his perspective of being a mentor in the program and his efforts to help Maria become a success story. This is a powerful testament to the strength of the Capital City Cirlces program!

John tells us about his platform, ideas, and why he decided to run for office. Our guest this week is the Executive Officer of the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada, Katie Leao. Katie discusses all the programs her club offers for local children here in Carson City and Minden/Gardnerville. Stacey has long been involved with Carson City and was previously the Fire Chief for our Capital City. Chief Slamon has been on the job for almost a year now and he tells us how to came to be the Fire Chief for the Capital City of Nevada. We chat about the medical/ambulance services that his department provides and what his day-to-day as Chief entails. Fire prevention is also discussed along with our current fire season. Chief Slamon exceptional knowledge and passion for fire fighting shines brightly through our conversation.

While we've been doing this podcast for about a year and half now Sena and I have never really properly introduced ourselves and our backgrounds. This episode takes care of that by allowing us each to convey how we started this project and how we both got into our current careers.

This weeks guest is the newest member of the Carson City Library staff and is in charge of the STEAM programs that the library offers. Virginia explains to us how she got into her new role and what exactly a STEAM centered project is all about. Her passion and enthusiasm about teaching especially children is apparent throughout our chat.

Our guest this episode is Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong who talks about how and why he got started in law enforcement which is a terrific story in and of itself. We talk about how mental health and the opioid epidemics have shaped policing here in the Capital City and how the department has adopted humane policies to deal with them. There's some eye opening information shared and Sheriff Furlong, as always, is his delightful, insightful self in talking about a career that is clear he loves.
