Today on Sojourner Truth: On Wednesday, December 1, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in a pivotal case that could result in the repeal of Roe v. Wade. The 1973 landmark decision protects a woman's right to have an abortion. Since the Supreme Court decision, forces on the right have been organizing to repeal it, and with the top court stacked with conservative judges, including Neil M. Gorsuch, Brett M. Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett, who were put in place by Donald Trump. Women across the nation are worried that they will lose the right to abortion. According to a 2021 Gallup poll, 58 percent of people in the United States are opposed to overturning the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, while only 32 percent are in favor of overturning it. Mississippi is asking the Supreme Court to affirm its legislatures judgment banning abortions in the state after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
