Take the recent coronavirus relief legislation, for example. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act allows employers to elect to delay payment of their federal payroll taxes, and delay the deposit and payment of their Social Security taxes, effective immediately, through Dec. 31, 2020.
