Aaron Boone is the new leader in the Bronx, becoming the 33rd manager in New York Yankees history. On this episode of Newsmakers, MLB.com's Bill Ladson talks to some of those that know Aaron Boone the best to find out why they think the Yankees made a home-run hire. First, Ladson chats with Aaron's father and Nationals vice president and senior advisor to the general manager Bob Boone to discuss why Aaron will be able to unite the players and the organization. Reds sportswriter Hal McCoy joins Ladson on the show to tell the story of how Aaron Boone urged him to continue his career after suffering two strokes in his optic nerves and losing most of his eyesight. Next, Blue Jays broadcaster Dan Shulman explains why he thought Boone would become a manager one day and how he has the great ability of dissecting the game. Former Reds general manager Jim Bowden talks about why he drafted Boone as a player and the characteristics that will make him a great manager.
