Hawaiian Electric, as in their three utility companies, were had 27 percent RE in 2017 and 2018. Will that be more in 2019. Are we moving fast enough, or are we focusing more on risk aversion?  Interesting stuff going on in KIUC. Their main generator went offline and the whole island went dark. The solar plus storage system didn’t help much with depleted batteries and bad weather. Is solar plus storage the be-all and end-all or we will need to backstop and backup to RE sources. The challenge, and imperative, is to find a local, ideally non-hydrocarbon fuel source for these generators. H2 may be the most appealing candidate.  The host for this episode is Jay Fidell.
