August 6, 8, 9, 1945 are auspicious days to include in your memory bank. In the closing days of the Pacific War in World War II the world changed. August 6th the Americans dropped the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima. August 8th President Harry S. Truman signed the United Nations Charter. The America became the first nation to complete the ratification process. August 9th another exceptional day in the history of World War II. The United States dropped a plutonium bomb, devastating the city of Nagasaki. The Soviet Union, keeping an agreement made earlier in the war, declared war on Japan, marking the beginning of the “Cold War”. The host for this episode is Marsha Joyner.
