India's National Song 'Vande Mataram', written by noted Indian writer Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, was first published in the literary journal Bangadarshan on 7 November 1875. Speaking with SBS Hindi, Dr Srishti Guha, a cultural historian and associated with University of Newcastle, traces the journey of the song that inspired India's freedom fighters and became the national song.
